Venice Community Housing Receives $500K Donation From Eric and Dana Newman (Exclusive)

As a fan who deeply appreciates the intersection of art and social responsibility, I am consistently inspired by individuals like Eric and Dana Newman. Their commitment to supporting affordable housing initiatives through Venice Community Housing (VCH) is truly commendable.

Eric and Dana Newman, a dedicated couple who have consistently supported Venice Community Housing, have chosen to reinforce their pledge by contributing half a million dollars to this noble cause. This generous donation is destined to help advance the organization’s efforts in providing affordable housing options.

Established in 1988, VCH focuses on investing in long-term affordable housing, developing innovative health and housing solutions for homeless individuals, fostering youth development and education, and forging equitable and inclusive partnerships.

The organization manages over 300 operational homes, with another 400 under construction. This nonprofit caters to over 1,300 individuals, the vast majority being people of color. VCH is nearing the launch of Journey Apartments, a complex comprising 40 units designed for homeless transition-aged youth and those battling chronic homelessness.

In response to their significant donation, Erika Lee, co-executive director at VCH, expressed heartfelt gratitude on behalf of our organization. She acknowledged the Newmans’ ongoing and incredibly generous support, stating that contributions such as this enable us to offer fully-equipped apartments for individuals transitioning out of homelessness, fund free educational programs, and provide a vast selection of supportive services for all our residents.

Eric Newman has been in the industry since the late 90s, boasting a diverse portfolio that spans movies like “Dawn of the Dead”, “Children of Men”, “The Last Exorcism”, “The Thing”, “RoboCop”, “Bright”, “Spiderhead” and the “Rebel Moon” series. He’s also been instrumental in executive producing prominent television shows such as “Narcos”, “Griselda”, and “Cowboy Cartel”. Coming soon are “American Primeval”, featuring Taylor Kitsch, and “Zero Day”, with Robert De Niro in the lead roles.

Dana Newman discovered VCH in 2009, living just a short distance from their Westminster TLC family shelter. Shortly after, she started volunteering with the children at the shelter. Later on, she became part of VCH’s board of directors and served as treasurer for an extended period.
