As a seasoned movie critic who’s seen more films than I can count on one hand (or possibly both hands and feet), I find myself intrigued by the upcoming project of Gore Verbinski, titled “Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die.” With a cast that includes Sam Rockwell, Haley Lu Richardson, Michael Peña, Zazie Beetz, and Juno Temple, this film promises to be a delightful ride.

Actress Juno Temple, who shines in the movie “Venom: The Last Dance”, shares intriguing insights about her upcoming project directed by the legendary Gore Verbinski. As she promotes the last chapter of the Venom series where she plays Dr. Payne, Temple also discusses her forthcoming film with Verbinski. After an eight-year hiatus, this Academy Award-winning director is set to make his comeback to the big screen with “Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die”, his debut production.

Renowned for directing movies such as “The Ring” (2002), the first three “Pirates of the Caribbean” films by Disney, and “Rango”, Gore Verbinski is known for his unique approach to filmmaking. This director is said to meticulously plan projects but also encourages spontaneity during filming, fostering creativity and unexpected surprises. His works like “Rango” and “The Lone Ranger” may seem peculiar, yet in an endearing and eccentric manner, much like Tim Burton’s “Edward Scissorhands”.

Verbinski’s latest movie titled “Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die” features an impressive cast including Temple, Haley Lu Richardson, Sam Rockwell, Michael Peña, and Zazie Beetz. This film is set in contemporary Los Angeles where a time-traveler from the future works to assemble a disparate band of individuals gathered in a diner, with the ultimate goal of joining forces to prevent a looming, enigmatic danger from destroying the world.

According to an interview with Collider, Temple recently shared that filming for the movie was completed a few months back in South Africa. She appreciated Verbinski’s enthusiasm on set, describing his atmosphere as “contagious.” Furthermore, she expressed admiration for the script and its deep-thinking themes, remarking that it was truly captivating.

I can hardly wait for the film starring Gore, which has an extraordinary and captivating script. There will be plenty of intriguing subjects to discuss, as well as a fantastic cast, headed by Sam Rockwell, whom I have great admiration for. Gore is like an enthusiastic child when it comes to this project; he’s passionate about the work he’s creating. He already envisions the entire production before you even step onto the set. This movie falls under the category of science fiction and dark comedy, and I am genuinely thrilled about it.

In 2016, director Verbinski released the psychological horror movie titled “A Cure for Wellness“. While it garnered some positive responses for its stunning visuals, eerie ambiance, and acting by Mia Goth, Dane DeHaan, and Jason Isaacs, it also received criticism. The criticisms pointed out certain plot inconsistencies and a storyline that seemed to mimic previous works. Despite these shortcomings, the film managed to secure a 42% rating on Rotten Tomatoes from both critics and viewers alike.

Previously, the director had been connected to a standalone ‘X-Men’ film featuring Channing Tatum as Gambit. However, Verbinski chose to leave the project due to scheduling conflicts and script concerns. In 2008, he was also intended to direct a movie based on the video game ‘BioShock’ for Universal. Unfortunately, that production was scrapped after budget disputes and disagreements over the film’s rating. More recently, in 2021, George R.R. Martin announced on his blog that Verbinski would be involved in the development of an adaptation of ‘Sandkings’. At this time, it remains uncertain whether or not we will receive further updates about the project.

Information about Temple’s character in “Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die” is being kept secret for now. Unfortunately, a release date for the movie hasn’t been announced yet. However, viewers can catch Temple as Dr. Payne in “Venom: The Last Dance“, hitting theaters this weekend!
