Venom: The Last Dance End-Credits Scenes Tease Two Possible Future Directions For The Franchise

As a long-time comic book enthusiast and Venom fanatic, I must confess that my heart skipped a beat when I saw those tantalizing credits rolling for Venom: The Last Dance. The movie itself was a rollercoaster ride of action, suspense, and the occasional head-scratching moment, but it’s those precious few seconds in the end that have left me buzzing with anticipation.

This tale delves deeply into significant plot points from the fresh release Venom: The Last Dance. Therefore, if you haven’t watched the movie yet or wish to avoid knowing the details, it is advisable to stop reading immediately.

As a gamer, I thought Venom: The Last Dance was supposed to wrap up Eddie Brock’s story, not introduce new mysteries or hint at future adventures. But lo and behold, the post-credit scenes of the movie seem to have other plans! It’s like they decided to keep the franchise alive even though this was supposedly the finale. I guess we’ll see if those teases and setups pan out in future movies.

In the movie “Venom: The Last Dance”, there are not one but two additional scenes after the main credits have rolled. Let’s break down what transpires in each of these post-credit sequences, and consider their potential implications for Sony’s cinematic universe as we know it.

The King in Black

The Last Dance” isn’t particularly complex. The main characters, Eddie Brock and his symbiote companion, are in hiding due to being falsely accused of murdering Detective Patrick Mulligan. However, it is revealed that Mulligan isn’t actually dead; instead, he’s being held by the government for research on his symbiote.

Ever since Knull was unveiled in the trailer for Venom: The Last Dance, fans have been buzzing with anticipation about the possibility of Venom facing off against his creator. In the comics, Knull is a formidable deity who spawned the symbiotes as his warriors. He’s gone toe-to-toe with Celestials. All in all, he’s one tough cookie.

Instead of appearing in the movie himself, he employs his underlings to pursue Eddie and Venom, leading Venom to selflessly give up his life to save Eddie. I’ll explain more about it shortly. To start things off, we find ourselves back on Klyntar, Knull’s home planet, where he remains seated on the throne. He goes on at length about the “King in Black” being awakened now – a nod to a well-known Marvel Comics storyline concerning Knull – and then raises his head to gaze upon the scene, vowing that he will return again.

It’s possible that we might witness a movie featuring Knull coming to Earth and requiring intervention, but given past trends with the Sony Spider-Man films, it may never materialize. Even with Andy Serkis in the role, I wouldn’t stake real money on its occurrence, especially considering he directed ‘Venom: Let There Be Carnage’. It’s likely he was just doing a friend a favor.

The cockroaches survive!

In the closing moments of “Venom: The Last Dance,” the second and last film installment, the scene hints at the potential return of the Venom symbiote, subtly leaving a crack open, even though it sacrificed itself to ensure Eddie Brock’s survival.

In Venom: The Last Dance, we learn that cockroaches are the only creatures likely to survive the destruction of Area 51 (and possibly Area 55), given their remarkable resilience. Consequently, the second scene shows the debris left behind by the film’s climactic battle. Amidst the wreckage, an unexpected figure emerges: Cristo Fernandez, who played the bartender in the opening scenes of the movie. The reason for his appearance is unclear, just like many aspects of this film.

Moving away from the scene, the camera slowly descends, focusing on a roaming cockroach amidst the debris. The insect makes its way towards a vial previously holding the symbiotes. Suddenly, there’s a flash of light.

Is the symbiote integrated with the cockroach now? Indeed, it appears that way. However, does this fact hold much significance? Not necessarily. Could we anticipate symbiote films sans Venom, just as we’ve had three Venom movies without Spider-Man? Possibly, though I’m not holding my breath for it. Frankly, I’d be equally uninterested in seeing that movie as I would in Madame Web 2 – which is to say, absolutely not interested. Here’s hoping neither of these films ever materialize.
