As a dedicated follower, I’m excitedly sharing the news that I, Vicky Kaushal, am currently immersed in promoting my upcoming film titled Chhaava. In this captivating production, I step into the shoes of the valiant Maratha warrior, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. Recently, in a fresh interview, I revealed that director Laxman Utekar was meticulous about crafting my character’s appearance and refused to commence filming until I had fully transformed into the embodiment of a true warrior. Notably, he made it clear that there would be no shortcuts; no VFX would be employed in this journey.
In a chat with Radio Nasha, Vicky Kaushal disclosed that playing the character Chhaava was the toughest role physically for him in terms of his acting career. He elaborated on the fact that building 25 kilograms of muscle was an incredibly difficult task, requiring him approximately seven months to accomplish.
Director Laxman Utekar insisted that production wouldn’t start until actor Vicky had fully prepared for his role, which involved not just gaining the necessary physique but also learning horseback riding, sword fighting, and combat techniques. The director was resolute about preserving authenticity, preferring real-life skills over visual effects in these areas.
Vicky went on to explain that, prior to the start of filming, he needed to let his hair and beard grow as part of his physical transformation process.
In the movie, the lead actor underscored the grandeur of the filming process, pointing out that when viewers witness a scene with 2,000 people, they were physically there during shooting. The film boasted 2,000 emerging artists and 500 top-tier stunt performers from the nation, collectively enhancing the authentic and immersive cinema experience.
In the film Chhaava, Akshaye Khanna assumes the part of Aurangzeb. Vicky Kaushal, expressing admiration for Akshaye’s transformation, mentioned that he was first presented with photos of Akshaye’s appearance and was left stunned, struggling to accept it as true.
In a breathtaking moment, Vicky observed that when Akshaye appeared on set, fully immersed in the role and exuding the character’s essence, it was truly awe-inspiring. What struck him most was how convincingly Akshaye portrayed the villain, leaving viewers speechless with his performance.
Currently, Rashmika Mandanna is portraying Maharani Yesubai, the wife of Sambhaji Maharaj, in the upcoming movie “Chhaava”, which is scheduled to hit theaters on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2025. Following this role, Kaushal will work with Sanjay Leela Bhansali on a new film titled “Love & War”. In this project, he will be alongside Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt.
