Vidya Balan pays tribute to MS Subbulakshmi on her 108th birth anniversary; fans manifest actress leading singer’s biopic

As an ardent admirer and follower of Bollywood, I can hardly contain my excitement and admiration for Vidya Balan’s latest project – her heartfelt tribute to the legendary M.S. Subbulakshmi. This is not just another role for Vidya; it’s a labor of love, seven years in the making!

Vidya Balan is brimming with joy after honoring the legendary Bharat Ratna M.S. Subbulakshmi by sharing a heartfelt tribute on Instagram. She posted a video montage of her pictures, where she portrayed the renowned singer. In an emotional message accompanying the post, Vidya shared that it was a dream she had cherished for seven years to embody M.S. Amma, and now that dream has been fulfilled.

September 16th is the day we celebrate the 108th birth year of M.S.Subbulakshmi, often known as the “Queen of Music” in India following independence, a title given by our first Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. Sarojini Naidu affectionately called her the “Nightingale of India.” Actress Vidya Balan expresses immense pride and joy for being given the opportunity to pay tribute in this manner.

As a lifestyle aficionado, I’m honored to share a heartfelt tribute, penned alongside Anu Parthasarathy (a renowned Costume Designer), to the timeless style icon, M.S.Subbulakshmi – an individual who masterfully embodied elegance through understated simplicity during her time. Remarkably, the four sarees I donned for this occasion are none other than those that graced the legendary M.S. Subbulakshmi throughout the 60s and 80s, a testament to their lasting charm and influence on our fashion landscape.

In a heartfelt note, the actress who played Parineeta credited Sikkil Mala Chandrasekhar (M.S.Subbulakshmi’s granddaughter-in-law) for her significant assistance throughout the process. Vidya Balan also expressed that while M.S.Amma’s beautiful, distinctive sarees were half of her enchanting appearance, the other half was her simple accessory ensemble – the traditional kumkumam and vibhuti on her forehead, the two unique nose pins flanking each side, and the mallipoo-adorned kondai.

In terms of her professional life, Vidya’s recent appearance was in “Do Aur Do Pyaar”, and she is set to return as the famous character, Manjulika, in the upcoming film “Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3”.
