As a seasoned analyst with years of experience under my belt, I find myself increasingly intrigued by these digital age conundrums. The hacking of Vivek Ramaswamy’s account to announce a non-existent partnership between the U.S. Department of Government Efficiency and USUAL is just another example of how cybercrime can blur the lines between fact and fiction in the blink of an eye.
Vivek Ramaswamy’s official account on X was fraudulently used to make a bogus declaration of a collaboration between the United States Department of Government Efficiency and USUAL.
The post claimed a partnership between the U.S. Department of Government Efficiency and the stablecoin issuer USUAL, stating that the collaboration would address the federal deficit using digital currencies. The tweet was quickly deleted after the breach was identified.
The fabricated announcement suggested the government would adopt stablecoins like USUAL to streamline operations and promote fiscal responsibility.
As a crypto investor, I’ve learned from the DOGE-USUAL partnership debacle that not everything announced in the digital currency world is as it seems. However, my faith in the Department of Government Efficiency remains unwavering, particularly their commitment to streamlining government operations and minimizing waste. They are determinedly concentrating on overhauling outdated IT infrastructure, which currently accounts for a staggering 80% of the federal IT budget.
Other notable X hacks
On December 15, the social media account of popular Canadian rapper Drake, known as X, was unlawfully taken over and used to advertise a fraudulent cryptocurrency called Anita. Due to confusion among fans who thought it was associated with Drake’s upcoming Anita Max Wynn tour, trading volume for this coin reached an astounding $4.9 million.
On September 19, scammers took control over Decentraland’s X account and used it to publicize a fraudulent MANA airdrop. This was actually a phishing attempt aimed at the account’s 607,000 followers. The scammers claimed they were disabling comments on their posts to prevent the spread of harmful links.
