VMAs: Anitta, Karol G, LL Cool J and Shawn Mendes Join Performers Lineup

As a seasoned gamer who has attended more virtual concerts than I can count, this year’s MTV Video Music Awards lineup is nothing short of exhilarating! From Anitta’s energetic performances to Karol G’s electrifying stage presence, these artists never fail to deliver a showstopping performance.

2024’s MTV Video Music Awards will feature performances by Anitta, Karol G, LL Cool J, and Shawn Mendes.

They will perform at the award ceremony, broadcast live at 8 p.m. Eastern Time/Pacific Time on September 11, directly from New York’s UBS Arena.

In addition to Lenny Kravitz, Halsey, Blackpink’s Lisa, Benson Boone, Sabrina Carpenter, Camila Cabello, Chappell Roan, GloRilla, Rauw Alejandro, Katy Perry (who will also receive the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard award), Megan Thee Stallion will also be part of the lineup. Notably, Megan Thee Stallion is scheduled to host the event.

For the third straight year, Anitta will grace the VMAs stage. Her performance will include a blend of “Savage Funk” and “Alegria”, as well as the debut of “Paradise”. Notable guest appearances during this set will be made by Fat Joe, DJ Khaled, and Tiago PZK. In addition to her performance, Anitta is nominated for three VMAs this year, with two past wins in the best Latin category.

Last year, I had my first-ever VMAs performance, and it was an honor to take home the award for best collaboration. This time around, I’m up against Anitta in the category for Best Latin. Let’s see if we can make history again!

Rapper LL Cool J is set to perform fresh tracks from his upcoming album, “The Force,” on the VMAs stage once again. The renowned artist, who won his first Video Music Award in 1991 and was honored with the Video Vanguard Award in 1997, previously graced the stage for last year’s special 50th anniversary tribute to hip-hop.

Shawn Mendes is set to make a comeback on MTV’s stage for the premiere of his upcoming fifth album, titled “Shawn”. This will be his fourth time performing at the MTV Video Music Awards.

2024 VMA nominations are headed by Taylor Swift who has amassed a total of ten nominations. Coming close behind is Post Malone with nine. Ariana Grande, Eminem, Sabrina Carpenter, Megan, SZA, Lisa, Olivia Rodrigo and Teddy Swims each have six, five, five, four, four, four, respectively. Voting for all 15 gender-neutral categories is open online and will close on August 30th.

On the occasion of the 23rd anniversary of the 9/11 tragedy, MTV has announced its decision to back two charities once more: 9/11 Day, responsible for organizing the September 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance, and Tuesday’s Children, an organization dedicated to helping families affected by the events of 9/11.

The Video Music Awards (VMAs) are overseen by Bruce Gillmer and Jesse Ignjatovic, co-founder of Den of Thieves, as the main producers. Barb Bialkowski serves as a co-producer. Alicia Portugal and Jackie Barba handle production, while Wendy Plaut manages celebrity talent and Lisa Lauricella focuses on music talent.
