As a die-hard fan of The Walking Dead universe, I was absolutely thrilled to hear about the latest developments from the San Diego Comic Con panel for The Walking Dead: Dead City season 2. Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s appearance at the event was a true highlight, and their announcement of a new trailer for the upcoming season left me on the edge of my seat.
At the San Diego Comic Con on Friday, actors Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan graced the event for a preview of “The Walking Dead: Dead City” Season 2. They brought along exciting tidbits for the fans. The most captivating being, a sneak peek into the upcoming season, which generated tremendous excitement among the audience. As per ComicBook.com’s report, the “Dead City” panel took place in Hall H and was facilitated by Chris Hardwick. He began the session with the debut trailer for season two.
In the teaser that lasts over a minute, Morgan encounters Negan once more, clad in a black leather jacket and whistling as he wields an upgraded bat with barbed wire called Lucille. The trailer further hints at Maggie’s intent to save Negan from The Dama (Lisa Emery) in New York City, but it seems the menacing Negan may still be a force to reckon with.

The initial season of Dead City received impressive feedback from viewers, with audiences warmly receiving the new spin-off featuring the main characters Negan and Maggie. The season one finale left Negan’s fate uncertain, creating an ominous backdrop for the ensuing violence in New York’s escalating gang war. According to the show’s description for season two, Negan and Maggie will become entangled in this expanding conflict.
In the escalating battle for dominance over Manhattan, Maggie and Negan discover themselves caught in opposing camps. As their stories converge, they begin to understand that their escape routes are far more intricate and alarming than they had originally thought.
At the panel, Morgan was quizzed extensively by the crowd about Negan, with much interest shown in his character’s sinister transformation and the new design of Lucille. The fans even encouraged Morgan to deliver his famous line, “Little pig, little pig,” which was met with enthusiastic cheers. Morgan joked, “It seems this crowd adores the old Negan.” Later on, he mentioned that upcoming events in season two would revive the classic Negan.

Alongside showrunner and executive producer Eli Jorné, Gaius Charles (Perlie Armstrong), and Željko Ivanek (The Croat) shared their experiences and insights into the production process. They talked about the hurdles they faced while preparing for this new chapter, with Charles and Ivanek delving deeper into their characters’ motivations.
As a longtime fan of The Walking Dead, I’m thrilled to see how the franchise continues to expand and evolve.
