As a long-time Wallace & Gromit fan, it feels like Christmas came early with the announcement of another installment in their adventures! With Feathers McGraw’s return and a new menacing gnome named Norbot, it seems we’re in for a rollercoaster ride that combines elements of classic spy thrillers and sci-fi movies.
It’s hard to believe that a fresh Wallace & Gromit adventure is due on our screens by 2024, it feels almost surreal! And with the villainous Feathers McGraw from “The Wrong Trousers” set to appear in “Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl“, there’s trouble brewing once more for Aardman Animation’s ingenious inventor and his loyal dog companion.
I’m quite concerned about Norbot, the latest invention they’ve built, given that we’ve just received additional information about the movie through Netflix. The studio has not only shared an intriguing new video clip, but also unveiled more plot points about what awaits Wallace and Gromit in Vengeance Most Fowl.
As you can read in the description below, revenge is apparently programmable:
In the upcoming episode, Gromit’s suspicions about Wallace overrelying on his inventions turn out to be true when Wallace creates an “intelligent” garden gnome named Norbot that appears to have a mind of its own. As it turns out, someone from their past might be manipulating events, and it becomes Gromit’s responsibility to confront the malevolent forces and save Wallace… or else his ability to invent may be permanently lost!
It seems to me, or perhaps it’s just my perception, that the upcoming Wallace & Gromit escapade is beginning to resemble a James Bond-style tale. After all, who else could be the “vengeful figure” other than Feathers McGraw, the cunning criminal mastermind and penguin with a knack for disguising himself as a rooster? He served 30 years in prison following his crimes in 1993’s “The Wrong Trousers,” giving him ample opportunity to plan his revenge.
Ah, as this frosty villain isn’t explicitly mentioned in the text, I’ll assume he’s innocent for now. Maybe his long time spent in cold storage has frozen over Feathers’ wicked tendencies. However, one might wonder if this Norbot, who is voiced by English comedian Reece Shearsmith, could be quite that troublesome, don’t you think?
Before we delve further into that topic, I’d like to give you the opportunity to make your own decision about it. Besides the details provided, Netflix has shared a clip of the mechanized assistant from “Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl,” which you can view below for your consideration:
Hey there fellow gamers! I can’t help but feel a strong sense of unease about Norbot, just like Wallace felt with Gromit in those nail-biting scenes. I’m not saying anyone needs to delve deep into my reasons, but let’s just say that after locking eyes with Norbot and seeing its unsettling grin, I can’t shake off this feeling of apprehension. Maybe it’s the influence of too many sci-fi robot movies or perhaps it’s the hype around the upcoming “Terminator Zero” that’s making me a little paranoid about technology. Whatever the reason, I can’t trust Norbot, and neither should you.
On a more cheerful and less ominous note, Aardman Studios has disclosed new business ventures in the world of Wallace & Gromit. The renowned Academy Award-winning studio hinted at today’s revelation through a cryptic video clip on social media. Keep an eye out for the next venture where our beloved stop-motion duo will be putting their skills to use!
