Walton Goggins, Jennifer Tilly, Billy Baldwin and More Pay Tribute to Michael Madsen: “A Total Stick of Dynamite on Screen”

The entertainment industry is grieving over the passing of Michael Madsen, confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter on Thursday. He was 67 years old.

In response to an emergency call, authorities discovered the renowned actor, who has starred in several Quentin Tarantino movies such as “Reservoir Dogs,” “Kill Bill,” “The Hateful Eight,” and “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,” unconscious at his Malibu residence. According to his representative, he experienced cardiac arrest.

After hearing the news, celebrities and relatives expressed their grief on social media by posting tributes for Madsen. Virginia Madsen, an actress known for her role in ‘Candyman’, shared a picture with her mom, writing in part of the caption, “He was thunderous yet velvety, mischievous wrapped in tenderness. A poet disguised as an outlaw, a father, a son, a brother – etched in contradiction, softened by love that left its trace. We’re not grieving a public figure. We’re not grieving a myth – but flesh and blood and a heart of ferocity.” Sharon Stone commented, “My deepest sympathies go out to you and your family.”

In response to the sad news, stars and relatives paid tribute to Madsen on social media. Virginia Madsen, an actress from ‘Candyman’, uploaded a photo with her mother, writing in part of the caption, “He was both thunderous and velvety, a mix of mischief and tenderness. A poet masquerading as an outlaw, a father, a son, a brother – full of contradictions, yet shaped by love that left its mark on us. We’re not mourning a public figure; we’re not mourning a myth, but a real person with flesh, blood, and a fierce heart.” Sharon Stone expressed her condolences in the comments section, saying “My sincere sympathies go out to you and your family.

Walton Goggins, an actor from The White Lotus series who worked alongside Michael Madsen in The Hateful Eight, posted pictures of him on Instagram and expressed his admiration: “Michael Madsen…this man…this artist…this poet…this scamp…ICON… Unmatched aura. Words fall short, so I’ll simply say this…I adore you, buddy. A hater forever,” he penned down.

Jennifer Tilly, a fellow actor in “The Getaway” alongside Madsen, expressed on X that he was one of her most cherished co-stars to work with.

It’s fitting that Michael Madsen passed away over the Fourth of July weekend. He wasn’t just a sparkler, he was an entire stick of dynamite both on-screen and off. May you find peace, my dear friend. (Billy Baldwin wrote this on X)
