Warner Bros. Acquires ‘MultiVersus’ Developer Player First Games

As a long-time gamer with a deep appreciation for the evolution of platform fighters, I can’t contain my excitement about the latest development in the gaming industry! Warner Bros. Games, a major player in the games publishing scene, has just acquired Player First Games, the brilliant minds behind MultiVersus.

Warner Bros. Games now owns Player First Games, the studio behind the newly released free-to-play MultiVersus platform fighter video game.

The specifics of the agreement were kept under wraps, yet Player First Games, a California-based company with Tony Huynh as CEO and Chris White serving as CTO, will now be part of Warner Bros. Games. Huynh and White will remain in their positions and answer to Carlos Barbosa, vice president and studio head at Warner Bros. Games San Diego, which has previously aided in the creation of MultiVersus.

In 2022, Player First Games introduced their first title in a preliminary beta version. The game underwent further refinement and enhancement until its official, commercially available release by the developer in May 2024.

“Warner Bros. Games president, David Haddad, expressed his delight in announcing the collaboration with Player First Games, which led to the creation and launch of MultiVersus over several years. We’re thrilled to officially welcome this skilled team into Warner Bros. Games.”

Warner Bros. Discovery’s Game Division, Warner Bros. Games, plays a significant role as both a publisher, creator, and licensor in the gaming industry.

As a seasoned gaming industry professional with extensive experience in leading game development teams, I am thrilled to announce that our team is now part of the esteemed Warner Bros. Games family. I firmly believe that this collaboration will significantly enhance the potential of our game, “MultiVersus.”

MultiVersus features a roster of popular characters based on Warner Bros. Discovery franchises.
