Warner Bros. Animation and DC Studios Order Adult Animation Series ‘Mister Miracle’

As a fervent admirer, I’m thrilled to share that Warner Bros. Animation and DC Studios have given the go-ahead for an adult animated series titled “Mister Miracle.” This series is inspired by the 12-issue comic that won the Eisner Award, penned by the brilliant Tom King and illustrated by the talented Mitch Gerads. In a role I’m honored to have, I’ll be serving as executive producer and showrunner for this project, which is now in production.

Mister Miracle signifies the second mature-themed animation venture by Warner Bros. Animation and DC Studios, following the James Gunn-created series Creature Commandos. This project is being produced for its second season on HBO Max at present. Other upcoming animated series from DC Studios include Starfire!, My Adventures with Green Lantern, and DC Super Powers.

(This version maintains the original’s structure and information but simplifies some of the phrasing to make it more accessible to a wider audience.)

The upcoming series focuses on Scott Free, famously recognized as Mister Miracle, the world’s most skilled escape artist. His life with his combatant wife Big Barda seems flawless until their two realms — Apocalypse and New Genesis — erupt into war, and it appears that Scott’s malevolent adoptive father Darkseid has obtained the Anti-Life Equation, a weapon that could grant him absolute control over the cosmos.

With towering piles of casualties on either side escalating, it’s only Mister Miracle who can halt the carnage and bring tranquility back. Yet, the ominous influence of the Anti-Life Equation might have seeped into his consciousness, distorting reality, unearthing deep-seated wounds, and threatening to fracture the bliss he’s discovered with the woman he cherishes.

The script for Mister Miracle portrays an adventure that’s both harrowing and hilarious, filled with heart-wrenching moments. This journey takes us through the challenges of everyday life as well as the extraordinary, following the son of God who was raised by the devil in his quest to rescue his family, his world, and perhaps even himself.

Network distribution is still to be determined.

Warner Bros. announced the new series at the Annecy animation festival on Thursday.
