As a seasoned gamer with a keen eye for the latest industry news, I must say, this appointment of Deniz Şaşmaz Oflaz to the role of VP at Warner Bros. Discovery is a game-changer! With her extensive experience within the company since 2016, she’s like the veteran player who’s been leveling up, ready to conquer new territories.
Warner Bros. Discovery has advanced Deniz Şaşmaz Oflaz to the position of Vice President for local original productions, local channels, and streaming operations within Turkey. In her new responsibilities, she will supervise both the streaming and traditional television industries in this region, as announced by the conglomerate on Monday.
Starting from January 2023, Şaşmaz Oflaz, holding the position of CEO at BluTV (Warner Bros. Discovery’s streaming platform), will carry on his role while assuming additional tasks. Among these new duties are overseeing the company’s traditional TV channels, which include TLC and DMAX, in Turkey.
The new leadership position emphasizes Warner Bros. Discovery’s dedication to enhancing their influence in Turkey and merging Warner Bros. Discovery’s and BluTV’s operations more closely,” the company stated.
In my new position, Deniz Şaşmaz Oflaz continues to spearhead the progress of homegrown content creation and distribution. Additionally, she’ll manage the operational aspects for TLC and DMAX channels, including guiding our local programming and scheduling teams that contribute to these well-loved brands. Previously, the role of managing these networks was under Grigory Lavrov, Vice President of Marketing, Local Brands & Franchise Management for Central & Eastern Europe (CEE) and Middle East, North Africa, and Turkey (MENAT). However, Lavrov will now focus on leading trade marketing teams across the CEE and MENAT regions while taking on new responsibilities that extend beyond Turkey.
Şaşmaz Oflaz had previously occupied various important positions within BluTV prior to becoming its CEO. These roles included serving as the content and commercial director, content director, and content acquisition consultant, with his tenure beginning in 2016.
