The buzz of Prateik Babbar and Priya Banerjee’s wedding circulated throughout town following the unveiling of breathtaking photos. Interestingly, their nuptials were a cozy gathering held at the residence of the late actress Smita Patil. However, Prateik Babbar faced criticism for not extending invitations to his father Raj Babbar and brother Arya Babbar on this special day. He has since clarified that the reason for their absence was misunderstood.
During a chat on Zoom, Prateik Babbar candidly discussed this topic and disclosed that they desired a small, private event free from outside influences. Additionally, he mentioned that he and Priya Banerjee focused on inviting only those individuals who held significant importance in their lives.
Additionally, he mentioned their intention to prevent a tense environment, pointing out that excessive attendees might interfere with the spirit of the festivities.
Prateik made it clear that the choice not to invite father Raj Babbar and brother Arya Babbar to his wedding wasn’t based on any personal conflict. Instead, he mentioned that it wasn’t a deliberate decision but something that transpired naturally. He further explained that it may have been misunderstood.
He also disclosed that he got married to Priya Banerjee at his deceased mother Smita Patil’s residence. Moreover, he confessed that inviting his father and stepmother Nadira Babbar to the wedding didn’t seem appropriate due to past conflicts between Smita and Nadira. He felt it was morally wrong, hence chose not to invite them. Nevertheless, the Dhoom Dhaam actor expressed that he was fine with arranging another event for his father and family members.
As a dedicated follower, I chose to keep my wedding intimate as a heartfelt tribute to my late mother, who single-handedly raised me in the very house where the ceremony took place. I’d like to make it clear that this decision wasn’t about excluding my father or brother; rather, it was about preserving the emotional significance of the space and honoring my mother’s memory in a manner that felt most fitting.
Although Prateik regretted that his father and family weren’t able to attend the wedding, he defended his decision, acknowledging that a private ceremony was necessary to preserve its authenticity. “People can act on impulse, make hasty decisions, and sometimes say things in the heat of the moment. It was simply distasteful, and I believe that unpleasant feeling has lingered,” Prateik explained further.
