As a longtime fan of Batman and the dark, gritty world of Gotham City, I can hardly contain my excitement for HBO’s upcoming limited series, “The Penguin,” starring Colin Farrell. Having grown up watching Christian Bale bring the Caped Crusader to life on the big screen, I’ve always been intrigued by the colorful rogues gallery of villains that inhabit Gotham. And let me tell you, Oswald Cobblepot, aka The Penguin, has always been one of my favorites.
Colin Farrell’s much-awaited “The Penguin” series, produced by MAX, has unveiled its official trailer for the upcoming fall release.
Over the weekend, Comic-Con goers had the opportunity to witness the comeback of Gotham City during DC’s panel. During this event, Colin Farrell participated remotely via Zoom. He was accompanied by director Matt Reeves, as well as Cristin Milioti and Rhenzy Feliz, who are both co-stars, and makeup designer Mike Marino. Reeves is the man behind the camera for “The Batman,” which stars Robert Pattinson, and he’s currently preparing to work on its upcoming sequel.
In the latest trailer, Colin Farrell’s menacing Penguin takes center stage in Gotham’s grisly crime scenes, wielding guns, knives, and even disposing of bodies. His goal is to rule over Gotham’s criminal underworld, but his plans are complicated when Sofia Falcone, portrayed by Milioti, emerges from Arkham Asylum. Driven by a desire to take control of Gotham, Sofia confronts Penguin at his Iceberg Lounge club. “The world isn’t fair to the honest man,” Penguin remarks in the trailer. “America is just one big hustle.” The series delves deeper into Penguin’s, also known as Oz Cobblepot, rise as the criminal mastermind of Gotham City, with Farrell undergoing extensive hours of prosthetic application and transformation for the role. Marino, responsible for the designs, drew inspiration from Harvey Weinstein and injured birds to create the iconic look.
Starting September 19, “The Penguin” will debut on HBO for an exclusive eight-episode stint. In this upcoming limited series, Colin Farrell will once again embody his character from Matt Reeves’ “Batman.” Take a peek at the trailer above for a sneak preview.
