As someone who has lived through the golden age of anime, I must say that the announcement of Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX at the Gundam Conference Winter 2024 event left me absolutely thrilled! The fusion of SUNRISE and Hideaki Anno’s team from studio khara, under the direction of Kazuya Tsurumaki, is a dream collaboration for any anime fan.

At the Gundam Conference Winter 2024 gathering held yesterday, it was officially confirmed that the upcoming anime series for the renowned mecha franchise, titled Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX, will be released in the year 2025.

Produced jointly by SUNRISE and Hideaki Anno’s team at studio khara, this animation offers a unique visual flair and lively art style. Notably, it will be led in direction by Kazuya Tsurumaki, a seasoned professional recognized for his work on the beloved anime series FLCL.

Following his success in the anime “Bungo Stray Dogs” and contribution to the latter Evangelion films, Yoji Enokido takes on the role of series composition and collaborates with Anno as the lead writers. Ikuto Yamashita, known for the iconic mecha designs in Evangelion, contributes as the mechanical designer for the upcoming Gundam series, offering a novel perspective to the mobile suits’ otherworldly allure. In the tranquil setting of an orbiting space colony school, Amate Yuzuriha goes about her daily life. However, her routine changes dramatically when she encounters a displaced war survivor named Nyaan, leading her to participate in the clandestine mecha combat sport called Clan Battle.
In the realm of “Machu,” I find myself locked in relentless combat after combat, maneuvering my GQuuuuuuX vessel. One fateful day, an enigmatic mobile suit piloted by a young lad called Shuji and pursued by both space forces and police, made its unexpected appearance before me.
