The antics of Please Don’t Destroy, the trio behind some of SNL’s most beloved sketches, have taken the show by storm, and their latest escapade has me in stitches.
Over the past few years, Saturday Night Live has been swept away by the wit and humor of Ben Marshall, John Higgins, and Martin Herlihy when they appeared on the show. But as they returned to their office before Season 50’s premiere in 2024, something unexpected had happened – their workplace was now inhabited by pigeons! Yes, you read that right, pigeons. So, these talented comedians took to social media to share a comical TikTok about the situation, and while watching them attempt to remove the birds is laugh-out-loud funny, it’s the haunting tune of Evanescence that makes the experience truly unforgettable.

In a TikTok video shared by Ben Marshall, he expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming season. The video unexpectedly switched to a scene of a pigeon perched on a chair in Ben’s office. Meanwhile, “Bring Me To Life” by Evanescence played loudly in the background. Later, John Higgins attempted unsuccessfully to chase away the birds. Even an NBC employee was called to assist, but they all found it challenging to remove the pigeons from the office.
It’s clear that given this occurred in a Saturday Night Live office, it was inevitable that there would be jokes exchanged, and these were shared as well. Michael Che playfully texted his colleagues:

In the meantime, SNL writer Ceara O’Sullivan and someone named Mike (possibly Mikey Day, given his initials MD) were discussing how having three pigeons would bring them good fortune. Consequently, the PDD group ended up anticipating a plentiful yield, which was quite amusing, wouldn’t you agree?

However, it’s worth noting that “Bring Me To Life” was a constant theme throughout, and as I followed this amusing pigeon narrative, the lyrics from “Wake Me Up!” like “I can’t wake up!”, “Save Me!”, played in the background, which ultimately proved to be emotionally overwhelming for me.
Over the past three years, these lads have become renowned for crafting some of Saturday Night Live’s most cherished skits, such as “Three Sad Virgins” with Taylor Swift, which showcases Pete Davidson’s brilliance. Moreover, this TikTok clip demonstrates that they are not only amusing on the show but also off it to a certain extent.
It would be ideal if they manage to take back their office from the pigeons before Season 50 begins this Saturday. If not, it could provide an excellent opportunity for a funny “Please Don’t Destroy” skit! And by the way, I certainly hope they can secure the rights for “Bring Me To Life” for that potential episode!
