As a passionate movie-goer and thrill-seeker, I’ve always been captivated by the adrenaline rush that roller coasters provide. Despite the heart-stopping sensations they create, making you feel like you’re in the thick of danger during the ride, it’s important to remember that these attractions are meticulously designed with safety as a top priority.
In fact, a multitude of safety measures are implemented to ensure the wellbeing of all riders. That’s why many TikTok users are quick to express their disapproval towards a fellow creator who overreacted after experiencing Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure at Universal’s Islands of Adventure. They argue that roller coasters, much like the scripted action in our favorite films, are meant to push boundaries and evoke emotions, not cause actual harm.
A video shared on TikTok shows a woman experiencing over a minute of distress, as she became terrified when the ride she was on at Universal’s Islands of Adventure suddenly halted. Convinced that her life was about to end imminently, she displayed clear signs of panic.

Many of the comments aren’t particularly polite, questioning if she’s ever experienced a theme park ride before. This is often the case due to frequent stoppages on rides being quite common, and roller coasters are specifically engineered to handle just such situations.
She seems concerned that another train might collide due to lack of knowledge about how a single halt on the tracks causes the whole system to come to a standstill, which is commonly referred to as a “cascade stop.
- Girl, you were no where near close to getting hurt
- You ever been to a theme park? lol this happens daily..
- 😂 Rides break down. You were 100% safe. A comp ride seems reasonable.
- there’s really no danger of anything like that happening on a roller coaster 😭 it’s an incredibly high tech system and theres about 1000 safety precautions and backup mechanisms in place at all times
It’s normal to be somewhat shaken by an abrupt halt of a roller coaster, but many viewers find the video’s complaints exaggerated. The woman in question seemed to believe that such an issue warranted a full refund of her ticket instead of just receiving a free Express Pass for later use. Additionally, it appears as though everyone on the ride shared her panic about the situation.
Speaking from my extensive experience with theme parks, I’ve grown accustomed to frequent stops on various rides. Just recently, during a visit to Universal’s Epic Universe, the Starfall Racers, one of their top attractions, experienced a halt. Thankfully, this was a brief interruption and it didn’t seem to bother anyone.
As an enthusiast, I’ve come to understand that roller coasters, while filled with excitement and thrill, can occasionally encounter issues leading to injuries or worse, tragically. These incidents are usually due to underlying structural flaws or human mistakes. The safety mechanisms installed are there precisely to avert such mishaps. Although it might seem unsettling when a ride momentarily halts, especially in the pitch-black, it’s quite common and part of the safety protocols in place.
