As a die-hard fan, I’m thrilled to hear that Netflix is set for an incredible year with the return of “Stranger Things”, “Wednesday”, and “Squid Games” in their 2025 TV lineup! However, it seems that some fellow fans might not be as jubilant today, as several beloved shows are scheduled to return no sooner than 2026.
It’s not unexpected that some shows won’t return this year, given they started late in the 2024 season and there was insufficient time for production to begin by 2025. Nevertheless, it’s still unfortunate, particularly for series with larger fanbases like “Outer Banks.
I Guess I’ll Have To Keep Thinking About My Outer Banks Theory
As a devoted fan of the series “Outer Banks”, I was truly disappointed to find out that Season 5 won’t be part of Netflix’s schedule in 2025. Although it seemed unlikely, given the early renewal for seasons five and final in November, I clung onto hope that the creative minds behind the show might pull off a miraculous Hollywood twist and provide us with the satisfying conclusion we yearn for following the heart-wrenching end of Season 4.
It appears I’ll need to be patient longer to find out if my assumption about the Pogues reconsidering their plan for vengeance on JJ proves correct. However, there is a silver lining: this extended wait gives me extra time to ponder my hypothesis that the writers will utilize JJ’s departure to strengthen Kiara and Rafe’s relationship, potentially making them one of the top couples in the series. This idea has sparked much discussion among fans since the show premiered on Netflix in 2020.
Other Netflix Shows Not Hitting The Schedule Until 2026
It appears that “Outer Banks” isn’t the only highly anticipated series absent from Netflix’s upcoming lineup. Fans of “Bridgerton” may need to exercise their patience, as the next installment won’t be arriving this year. Despite its Regency-era popularity, the showrunners are adhering strictly to the timeline they’ve set with the first three seasons, which saw fans waiting approximately two years between Seasons 2 and 3.
Fans of the popular live-action adaptation ONE PIECE may have to be patient for the second season, as it is yet to air. The first season was released in August 2023, but production on the sequel didn’t start until a year later, even though it was renewed for another season in September 2023.
Ali Wong’s show “Beef” is another 2023 series that won’t see its second season until 2026. Fans of the Emmy-winning limited or anthology series might need to exercise extra patience, as it took a year and a half after its debut for the show to be officially renewed for another season.
If Netflix increases its subscription fees once more, viewers may think about canceling their service until 2026. But, it might not be wise to do so because the 2025 schedule looks quite promising. Moreover, plans can change unexpectedly. There’s a possibility that a show scheduled for 2026 could be completed ahead of time and added to the latter part of the 2025 lineup instead, making it beneficial to keep your subscription current.
