A wild and hairy creature is on the move, and if you’re a fan of traditional Universal Monster tales, don’t let fear (or at least excessive fear) keep you from encountering it when “The Wolf Man” slips into a dimly lit cinema close to you starting January 17.
Originating from the imaginative duo Corbett Tuck (known for co-writing “Insidious”) and Leigh Whannell (director of “Saw”), “Wolf Man” offers a contemporary twist on the classic 1941 werewolf horror film, “The Wolf Man,” produced by Universal Pictures. For Whannell, this is the second venture into revamping a timeless Universal Monsters movie, following the massive success of his 2020 reboot of “The Invisible Man,” featuring Elisabeth Moss in the lead role. This can now be streamed on Peacock!

What is Wolf Man about?
In a new phrasing: The character known as “Wolf Man” accompanies the Lovell family – Blake, Charlotte, and their dog Ginger – on a journey to Blake’s rural Oregon childhood home, which was recently inherited following his father’s death. A sense of foreboding and growing apprehension permeates their secluded destination, as Blake encounters an attack from an unidentified beast after the event.
In the woods, there appears to be something menacing and unusual hiding, prompting the family’s wish to survive the ordeal by staying in their old farmhouse for the night, hoping to escape the nightmare within. However, an ominous change has begun within the house walls, where they seek shelter – a transformation that challenges Blake’s trusted position as the family’s guardian and leaves one questioning his role as protector.
