What We Do In The Shadows' Matt Berry Reveals The Fan Response He Gets Most, And It Seems Like It'd Be Both Hilarious And Unsettling

As a seasoned gamer with a penchant for quirky humor and an uncanny ability to recognize voices, I can wholeheartedly attest that Matt Berry is indeed a treasure trove of comedic gold. His unique brand of wit and charm elevates every project he’s involved in, be it voice acting or his captivating performances on screen.

Matt Berry significantly enhances and elevates every movie and TV series he’s involved in, whether it’s through his acting or just his distinctive voice. Take his double roles in “Fallout,” for example. It’s unfortunate that he won’t be featured in every new fall TV debut this year, but fans can look forward to seeing him again as a member of Staten Island’s undead elite in the final season of “What We Do in the Shadows.” His character’s signature exclamation seems to be a frequent target of fan enthusiasm.

Although some enthusiasts might stretch their imagination by inviting Berry to attend spiritual gatherings, such behavior is impolite in our everyday lives. Instead, the actor from The IT Crowd, speaking with Deadline, mentioned that viewers are often vocal about Laszlo’s shape-shifting ability and don’t shy away from discussing it openly. In his own words:

It’s not just things from Shadows, it’s things from all kinds of shows. But if it’s Shadows, then I’ll hear someone shout, ‘Bat!’ And people don’t do it within a meter of you, they’ll make sure that they’re at least 50 meters away. It’s weird, because it can happen any time of the day, day or night, I could have been out somewhere and be walking home in the early hours, and someone will shout, ‘Bat!’ in the distance. Or I can be up first thing at five in the morning and I can hear someone shouting ‘Bat!’ in the distance. So, it really doesn’t make any difference what time of day, I’ve found out.

As a die-hard fan of Matt Berry’s incredible talent and unique charm, I can’t help but feel a thrill at the thought of running into him unexpectedly. The idea of casually strolling down the street, only to spot him from afar, sends an electric jolt through me. In that moment, I’d be torn between wanting to approach him and bask in his presence, or quickly darting away to maintain a safe distance – just in case he decides to take a leisurely stroll in my direction.

It’s quite understandable that the co-creator of “Toast of London” might find life a bit nerve-wracking, considering he could hear someone shouting “Bat!” at any moment, anywhere on the globe. This situation resembles a comic from The Far Side. Fingers crossed this doesn’t result in a scenario where Matt Berry mistakes someone calling out to him for “Bat,” leading to misunderstandings about rabid bats.

Berry graciously gave a tantalizing hint for fans to ponder as they wait for upcoming episodes. When questioned about the sixth season, he made this remark.

I’m looking forward to the final season airing since it promises some unique twists that I haven’t seen before. I’m curious to see what others will think of these unexpected developments. The series has quite a few notable guest stars, but what really excites me is the intriguing finale. It could take either direction, right? Fans might end up discussing it for days on end, either expressing their disdain or their admiration. So, we’ll see! But I find it fascinating.

By chance, this year Matt Berry appeared as a guest in the last season of Curb Your Enthusiasm, delightfully referencing the iconic ending of Seinfeld. It’s hard to predict if Shadows will follow suit with pop culture references, but its finale promises to be memorable nonetheless.

Following the conclusion of his vampire storyline, Berry is set to appear in a few upcoming sci-fi films. These include “The Wild Robot” produced by DreamWorks and the animated comic adaptation of “Rogue Trooper,” directed by Duncan Jones. Additionally, he will contribute his smooth voice to “The Cat in the Hat” alongside Bill Hader.

Among the numerous series concluding in 2024, “What We Do in the Shadows” is one of them. I’ll reserve my sorrow until after the season has ended. Mark your calendars for Season 6 on FX, airing October 21. Keep an eye out for other exciting horror TV shows coming soon!
