As a lifestyle expert with a rich background in film and entertainment, I must say that stories like the one involving Mahesh Bhatt, Aamir Khan, and Mumtaz offer fascinating insights into the world of Bollywood. The anecdote about the ice cream is undoubtedly amusing, but it underscores the importance of shared understanding and mutual interest in any creative collaboration.
Mahesh Bhatt, a well-known filmmaker, spoke about his efforts to work together on a movie with Aamir Khan and the esteemed actress Mumtaz. In a recent conversation, Bhatt disclosed that Aamir seemed unenthusiastic about the project. Nevertheless, they had an interesting encounter at Bhatt’s residence where Aamir finished off all the ice cream and departed, indicating his lack of interest in the film’s narrative.
Although they initially faced a hurdle, Bhatt and Khan subsequently collaborated on Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin and Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke. However, their business partnership deteriorated during the production of Ghulam.
During a chat on Radio Nasha, the film director was questioned about an unexecuted collaboration with Aamir Khan that featured Mumtaz as Aamir’s character’s mother. When inquired if Aamir’s statements regarding the project not coming to fruition were correct, the filmmaker remembered a time when he had discussed a concept with Aamir.
He mentioned that Aamir had come over to his house, accompanied by his first wife, and they had enjoyed a lot of ice cream together. He said, “I remember we used to order ice cream from Natural’s. He’d come over with his first wife, and the power went off. He ate all the ice cream.”
Initially, the director shared the story with Aamir, but Aamir wasn’t immediately on board. A week passed, and Aamir told him he didn’t find the story appealing. In response, the director decided not to produce the film since casual conversations could spark speculation and rumors during that period.
The story was about a mother and son, which led him to discover a book about the greatest scripts ever written. This book contained the screenplay for It Happened One Night. He showed it to Aamir, who suggested they could create something based on it, which eventually led to the making of Dil Hai Ke Maanta Nahin.
In terms of his professional life, Khan is set to appear in the film “Sitaare Zameen Par” together with Genelia D’Souza. This production is helmed by director R. S. Prasanna and jointly produced by Khan and Kiran Rao.
