The TV series “When Calls the Heart” is running smoothly and doesn’t seem to be losing pace. Its Season 12 finale aired earlier this year as part of the 2025 TV schedule, and it has already been confirmed for a Season 13 renewal. Not much information has been given about the new episodes except for Melissa Gilbert returning as Georgie McGill and trouble brewing in Hope Valley. Now we know that filming has begun, and lead actress Erin Krakow marked the occasion with a heartfelt video.

Erin Krakow, who’s played Elizabeth Thornton since day one, shared an Instagram post to kick off Season 13. The video features her, Kevin McGarry (as Nathan), Hyland Goodrich (Elizabeth’s on-screen son), and Jaeda Lily Miller (Nathan’s on-screen niece/adopted daughter). They walk hand in hand towards the camera, looking content. Krakow wrote “We missed our home” along with a wink emoji as the caption. Take a look:

The title seems to hint at the fact that in Season 12’s finale, the group left Hope Valley to seek medical aid for young Jack (Goodrich), who had been diagnosed with diabetes. It was thought they would return to town shortly after Season 13 began, but seeing them all reunited, as suggested by Krakow’s caption, is delightful. I adore the familial bond that has developed among the characters, and this video only fuels my excitement for more of these heartwarming interactions.

Earlier this week, Krakow seemingly hinted that she was preparing to get back to work. The actress posted a selfie from a plane, which seemed to suggest that she was about to make her way to set. Regardless of whether that’s what she was on the plane for at that time, I’m glad she’s on set again now.

It appears that Hope Valley could experience some significant changes when the upcoming season starts, as actor Jack Wagner hinted at a major “event” happening in the town which is expected to be “transformative.” I can’t wait to find out more about his statement!

Talking about significant events, filming for Season 13 of When Calls the Heart is about to start soon, not long after Krakow wed her co-star Ben Rosenbaum. They met on the set of this popular Hallmark romance series. It’s worth noting that they aren’t the first stars from the show to become a couple. The news of their marriage had fans thrilled. I can’t wait for the premiere, as I’m eager to listen to these actors share their experiences of returning to set as a married couple.
