As a seasoned One Chicago fan with years of emotional investment in these characters, I can hardly contain my excitement for the upcoming season 13 premiere! The interwoven storylines and cliffhangers of Season 12 have left me on the edge of my seat, eager to unravel the next chapter of Kelly Severide’s life as he grapples with a shocking family revelation. The prospect of Chief Boden passing the torch to a new leader within the firehouse is bittersweet, but I’m rooting for Herrmann to step up and shine.
Prepare for a new season filled with romance, chaos, and heart-stopping stunts as “Chicago Fire” returns! You can catch the season premiere on September 25 at 9 p.m. EST, still airing every Wednesday night. The show will be nestled between its fellow “One Chicago” series, “Chicago Med” and “Chicago P.D.”, maintaining its traditional slot. Remarkably, all three shows from the franchise are set to make their comeback on the same evening.
As a long-time fan of “Chicago Fire,” I’ve noticed that the series usually starts its new seasons around late September. However, due to SAG-AFTRA strikes, last season had a delayed start. This year, it seems like we’ll be getting an earlier kickoff, which I’m quite excited about as it means fewer months of waiting! The exceptions are Seasons 4, 5, and 9, which began in October and November respectively. While I’ve enjoyed the anticipation of a September premiere, I must admit that having a new season start earlier in the year will make my winter just a bit more bearable.
For devoted “Chicago Fire” viewers, they won’t have to wait much longer to discover what happens next in their beloved characters’ tales; however, the climax of Season 12 is undoubtedly an ending that will be etched in their memories for quite some time.
The end of Chicago Fire Season 12 rocked the firehouse
In the last episode of Season 12, Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) uncovers a surprising truth – one of his colleagues is actually his half-brother. Jack Damon (Michael Bradway) admits that Benny Severide (Treat Williams) is his father. Before Kelly can fully process this shocking revelation, Chief Wallace Boden (Eamonn Walker) announces his departure to become a deputy commissioner. Boden urges Chris Herrmann (David Eigenberg) to apply for the vacant chief position, something Herrmann appears to seriously contemplate. Meanwhile, Mouch McHolland (Christian Stolte), after much deliberation, decides to take the lieutenant’s exam. Each character seems to be considering a career advancement.
Kelly along with his spouse, Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo), are considering a significant shift in their lives – starting a family. However, they remain uncertain as Season 12 comes to a close. The situation between Violet Mikami (Hanako Greensmith) and Sam Carver (Jake Locket) is equally unresolved. Their relationship hits a rough patch when Sam’s jealousy about Violet’s past relationships conflicts with her suspicion that he has feelings for Stella, which might lead to further tension or romance in the upcoming September episodes.
