Some of his most famous movies include Hero No.1, Hadh Kar Di Aapne, Dulhe Raja, Coolie No. 1, Partner and many more. At the start of his career in Bollywood, Govinda had over 70 films lined up! Can you believe that at just 21 years old, he signed 75 films? Even legendary actor Dilip Kumar advised him to drop 25 of those movies.

Let’s delve deeply into this flashback. In a podcast conversation with Maniesh Paul, Govinda shared anecdotes about the time when, at the age of 21, he agreed to star in 75 films.

In the main plot of the story, I was assigned a role, and I found myself immersed in it. It was as if someone above had placed me in charge of managing this industry, said Govinda.

Reflecting on his chat with the late acting legend Dilip Kumar, Govinda disclosed that he suggested discarding around 25 films. However, as the star of Hero No. 1, Govinda revealed that he had already received the film fees from the producers. In jest, he asked, “How will I return the money to them?”

Later, Dilip Kumar reassured him, suggesting that divine intervention would ensure the event and requested the return of the money. Govinda consented to his suggestion.

Govinda mentioned that he frequently fell ill while filming, and he even had to seek medical attention quite frequently due to his relentless work schedule. Interestingly, at one point, the actor disclosed that he went without sleep for an entire 16 days because he was working non-stop on set for more than two weeks straight.
