When Hrithik Roshan revealed he saw tears in dad Rakesh Roshan's eyes after he 'lost all his money' due to Shah Rukh Khan-led Koyla debacle

As an ardent admirer of the Roshan dynasty, I find myself deeply moved by the poignant tales that intertwine their professional and personal lives. The resilience and determination of Rakesh Roshan, a legendary figure in Hindi cinema, is truly inspiring. His journey, marked by triumphs and setbacks, serves as a testament to his unwavering passion for storytelling.

For many years, the experienced actor and director Rakesh Roshan has been a significant figure in Bollywood cinema. As a director, Rakesh has overseen films such as Khudgarz, Khoon Bhari Maang, Karan Arjun, among others. Notably, he also directed his son, Hrithik Roshan’s movies like Kaho Naa…Pyaar Hai, Koi Mil Gaya, and the entire Krrish series. Unfortunately, Rakesh experienced a significant setback following the release of Koyla in the 90s. It was later disclosed by Hrithik that he witnessed his father, Rakesh, shedding tears after losing a substantial amount of money due to the poor performance of Shah Rukh Khan’s Koyla.

In my fervent admiration for the legendary Hrithik Roshan, let me share a heartwarming tidbit from his recent chat with Komal Nahta on ETC Bollywood. Hrithik opened up about instances where he saw his father, the venerable Rakesh Roshan, displaying raw emotions. Incredibly, these emotional moments between father and son occurred a total of three times in our beloved star’s life.

According to the actor who played Krrish, the film director shed tears on the phone following the release of Hrithik’s debut movie, Kaho Naa…Pyaar Hai in 2000. Similarly, Hrithik’s father, Rakesh, was moved to tears when his son had brain surgery in 2013.

Reflecting on an earlier instance, Hrithik reminisced, “There was a period when our home encountered difficulties following the failure of Koyla. He had depleted all the money he had made and even the funds he’d invested disappeared. Moreover, someone who had taken a loan from my father vanished with the borrowed sum.

In a statement, the actor from Bang Bang revealed that his father, Rakesh Roshan, once cried upon discovering one day that he had lost all his lifetime earnings.

In 1997, the action-packed thriller “Koyla” was headlined by Shah Rukh Khan and Madhuri Dixit. The villainous role was played by the esteemed actor Amrish Puri who unfortunately passed away.

Hrithik Roshan made his Bollywood debut as a lead in his dad Rakesh Roshan’s directorial, Kaho Naa…Pyaar Hai in 2000. He was last seen in filmmaker Siddharth Anand’s directorial venture, Fighter earlier this year.

Hrithik Roshan is currently preparing for Ayan Mukerji’s follow-up to the 2019 movie “War,” titled War 2. The upcoming film will feature Kiara Advani, Anil Kapoor, and Jr. NTR in significant roles alongside Hrithik.
