Marvel Snap is bound to return. The only question is: When will the card game return to the US?
The game known as Marvel Snap was created by Second Dinner and then released by Nuverse, a gaming division owned by ByteDance.
Additionally, it’s worth noting that ByteDance is the parent company behind TikTok, the popular social media app. However, on January 19 in the U.S., a nationwide ban was implemented due to the company’s inability to sell the platform and concerns about potential user data collection. This data could potentially be accessed by the Chinese government if they chose to do so.
As a result, anything related to ByteDance was banned in the US. Including Marvel Snap.
As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled to share that TikTok got another chance, thanks to President Donald Trump, who granted an extended 90-day period for ByteDance to find a prospective buyer.
The President neglected to mention Second Dinner’s card game during his speech. While it might not be as significant as the TikTok ban regarding national security issues, the fact remains that countless players are eagerly awaiting news about when they can resume their journey towards Infinite again.
Is Marvel Snap Coming Back?
Indeed, the Marvel Snap should become accessible as soon as the resolution of the ban is in sight. As per the developers’ estimates, this could potentially occur on or around January 20th.
It’s surprising that the impact from the TikTok ban fell heavily on ByteDance’s gaming division instead.
On his personal Twitter, the social media manager of Second Dinner subtly suggested that the team was caught off guard by this ban, possibly explaining why Marvel Snap’s comeback might be delayed compared to TikTok’s quick resurgence.
Will Marvel Snap Players Be Compensated for the Downtime?
Absolutely! It was confirmed by Second Dinner that I, as a player, can expect some form of reimbursement to make up for the time the game was down due to the ban.
Since Marvel Snap functions as a live-service game, it’s reasonable that players might feel frustrated over their inability to earn points for the ongoing battle pass or additional in-game currencies. However, it’s yet to be determined what form of compensation these players will receive.
