When Laapataa Ladies' team got teary eyed after watching Kiran Rao’s directorial for the first time; Aamir Khan said ‘This is the best film…’

As a lifestyle expert with a deep appreciation for cinema, I must say that Kiran Rao’s return to directing with Laapataa Ladies has been nothing short of a triumphant comeback. The film’s success at both the critical and box office levels is a testament to Rao’s storytelling prowess and her ability to connect with audiences on a profound level.

Kiran Rao, after many years, stepped back into the director’s chair and produced a film that struck a chord with every corner of India. The movie, titled Laapataa Ladies, was not only praised by critics but also earned immense popularity at the box office. The love it received was overwhelming, so much so that it was recently chosen as India’s official entry for the Oscars 2025. To celebrate this momentous occasion, Aamir Khan Productions shared a video of the team, who became emotional watching the comedy-drama together on the big screen for the first time.

The video starts by displaying an enthusiastic welcome for Laapataa Ladies on the big screen, as Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao’s names are shown. As the camera sweeps across the audience and cast, we notice actor Ravi Kishan (Sub-Inspector Shyam Manohar) affectionately embracing the director. Actors Nitanshi Goel (Phool Kumari) and Pratibha Ranta (Jaya Tripathi Singh) are seen shedding joyful tears and warmly greeting each other. Later, Ravi takes the microphone to express that he has been part of 750 films in various languages, but on this particular day, he was moved to tears by watching the movie itself.

Aamir Khan was featured in the video too, praising Rao. He mentioned that when he admired the story, he told Kiran about it, and she executed her roles as a director and producer exceptionally well. In conclusion, Khan stated, “This is one of the finest movies we’ve produced.” The filmmaker of Dhobi Ghat also introduced the entire cast to the audience attending the screening.

Upon learning that Laapataa Ladies was chosen for the 97th Academy Award, Pratibha graciously revealed to us, “It’s almost unbelievable that a film as significant as Laapataa Ladies will be representing India at the Academy Awards. As performers, we’ve always yearned to contribute to something impactful, and being associated with a movie garnering global attention surpasses anything I could have imagined in my wildest dreams.

As a dedicated filmmaker, I recently took to my platform to express my heartfelt gratitude to the incredible team that made our latest project come alive on screen. From the talented cast members to the tireless crew behind the scenes, each and every one of you played an indispensable role in bringing this vision to life. I am forever grateful for your dedication, passion, and unwavering support throughout this incredible journey.
