As a devoted fan who has followed Salman Khan’s career since his early days in Bollywood, I have to say that his humility and self-deprecation never cease to amaze me. In an industry where ego often takes center stage, it’s refreshing to see a superstar like Salman acknowledge the contributions of others and downplay his own role.
One of Salman Khan’s most renowned films, “Tere Naam” from his successful Bollywood career, is particularly famous for the unique hairstyle that became a trend upon its 2003 release. Interestingly, Salman Khan himself once declined to acknowledge director Satish Kaushik’s role in the movie, stating he contributed nothing to the making of the cult classic.
In a previous conversation with Lehren Retro, Salman Khan openly discussed his role in the 2003 movie, Tere Naam. Salman himself confessed that while he was indeed part of the film, the majority of the credit should perhaps go elsewhere for the second half of the production.
In the movie “Tere Naam,” Salman explained that his character appeared with hair in the first half, but was bald during the second half. He simply nodded his head without speaking any dialogue in the second part of the film.
In a recent statement, Salman spoke about the success of the 2003 film Tere Naam, crediting its director, screenplay writers, dialogue writers, and plot for creating his character as it is today. Interestingly, the superstar himself modestly claimed that he contributed “nothing” to the movie.
In the very same interview, I, a devoted fan of Bajrangi Bhaijaan, acknowledged Salman Khan’s observation about actors not always receiving recognition for their hard work on films. Speaking in relation to Karan Arjun, I, as the actor from Maine Pyar Kiya, admitted that my role in Rakesh Roshan’s direction wasn’t substantial. I further mentioned that other cast members carried more of the weight during the 1995 production, effectively working for me in the movie.
In Tere Naam, Salman Khan portrayed Radhe Mohan, a man who held a degree but was unemployed. He shared a romantic connection with debutante Bhumika Chawla, cast as Nirjara – a fellow student from his college and the daughter of a temple priest. Alongside them in the 2003 film were Sachin Khedekar, Ravi Kishan, Indira Krishna, Sarfaraz Khan, among others.
Currently, Salman is preparing for the premiere of filmmaker AR Murugadoss’ eagerly awaited movie titled “Sikandar”. In this upcoming action-packed drama, Rashmika Mandanna plays the romantic lead opposite Salman. Other notable cast members include Sharman Joshi, Kajal Aggarwal, Sathyaraj, and Preteik Babbar who have significant roles in the film. The movie is set to be released on Eid 2025.
