As a dedicated follower, I have always admired Salman Khan and his incredible journey from doubtful beginnings to becoming the megastar he is today. His humility and honesty about his past struggles resonate deeply with me, as they serve as a reminder that success doesn’t come easy for anyone.
Salman Khan, affectionately known as ‘bhai,’ and admired by many, has risen to superstardom since his acting debut in 1988 with “Biwi Ho To Aisi.” From then on, his career has flourished steadily. Today, it’s hard to believe that there was a period of uncertainty about his future as an actor.
We obtained an archived conversation between actor Salman Khan and filmmaker Karan Johar, during which the director of Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani inquired if Salman had ever considered himself a superstar. In the interview on Bollywood Gallery, Salman replied that he had felt his future would be uncertain and doubtful, suggesting poverty was a possibility.
When asked about the reason behind his stardom despite being so handsome, the Bollywood heartthrob explained that it was due to the directors who selected the right stories for him, his role in Maine Pyar Kiya which established him as a star, and the acceptance from the audience that made him famous. However, prior to this, he never considered himself attractive. He also reminisced about an old interview where he mentioned that at parties, people would often overlook him.
In a lighter tone, Salman shared that when someone enters and people glance at them twice, it usually means they possess something notable. However, he mentioned that, in the past, nobody seemed to notice his arrival.
Although he’s widely recognized as a megastar, Tiger Zinda Hai star humbly shared in an exclusive chat with TopMob that he dislikes being labeled with such titles. He simply expressed, “I don’t put any significance into those labels. I’m just focusing on my work, and people seem to be enjoying it; that’s all there is to it. I haven’t earned the right to call myself a superstar,” Khan modestly admitted.
During the same chat, the actor openly confessed his deepest apprehension: he is afraid of being respected. He put it this way, “What I fear is losing respect. Particularly if I were to disappoint someone, that terrifies me. I don’t want to lose respect in the eyes of those who care about me, whether they are family, friends, or fans. That’s what scares me—nothing else.”
At present, Salman is busy shooting for the much-awaited movie Sikandar directed by AR Murgadoss. This action-packed thriller promises heart-pounding fight scenes that will keep viewers on tenterhooks. The film is being produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and also stars Rashmika Mandanna alongside Salman Khan, with Suniel Shetty and Prateik Babbar in significant roles. As of now, it is slated for release during Eid 2025.
It’s worth noting that Khan is considering teaming up with director Atlee Kumar, who gained fame with Jawan. A reliable source has shared that Salman has agreed to the project, and the filmmaker is currently crafting the script for their potential collaboration.
