When Salman Khan’s Maine Pyar Kiya co-star Bhagyashree thought he was flirting with her on set; ‘He would follow me around’

As an obsessed fan with a penchant for delving into the lives of Bollywood royalty, I must say that the friendship between Salman Khan and Bhagyashree is a tale as timeless as their iconic film, Maine Pyar Kiya. The way they’ve shared such intimate moments, from the initial confusion to the eventual understanding, is a testament to their unique bond.

It’s fascinating to learn how Salman, in his playful yet endearing manner, tried to woo Bhagyashree during the shoot of Dil Deewana. The way he sang the song into her ear and followed her around the set was undoubtedly charming, even if it caused some initial confusion.

What intrigues me the most is their shared history – from the film that launched them both to stardom, to standing by each other during Bhagyashree’s wedding when her family chose to remain absent. It’s a bond forged in the crucible of showbiz, a testament to their mutual respect and camaraderie.

And just as a side note, it seems that Salman Khan has quite the knack for knowing who’s got a crush! His line, “I know who you’re in love with. Why don’t you call Himalaya here?” is something I wish he could say to me someday… or maybe not! After all, I’m already smitten by him!

Salman Khan is widely respected for his modest and thoughtful demeanor, often spoken about by his fellow actors during interviews. Most recently, Bhagyashree, who starred alongside him in his debut film, Maine Pyar Kiya, reminisced that the actor, who was always considerate towards her, started acting differently towards her, leaving her with the impression that he was flirting. However, she later acknowledged her mistake and they developed a strong friendship instead.

In a recent chat on Kovid Gupta Films’ YouTube channel, Bhagyashree reminisced about working alongside a superstar on their first movie in 1989. The actress noted that Khan was consistently kind and supportive on set, but things changed during the filming of the legendary song “Dil Deewana.” Specifically, he overstepped boundaries by frequently joining her and singing the song into her ear.

On the set, the actor from Dabangg started following her and kept repeating a specific song, which only added to her puzzlement. It wasn’t until she figured out his good-natured intentions that she understood why he was behaving this way.

Bhagyashree remembered him saying, “I’m aware of who you have feelings for. Why not invite Himalaya Dasani to join us?” This statement left the actress taken aback as it became clear that he was aware of her romantic involvement with Himalaya Dasani, prompting her to explain his changed behavior.

In a playful turn of events, Salman emerged as a trusted ally, providing support that blossomed into a lasting friendship. Interestingly, the actress from “Maine Pyar Kiya” shared that her family was absent at her wedding to Himalaya Dasani. However, it was Salman and the film’s director, Sooraj Barjatya, who stood by her on her special day. They both chose to be present at her wedding ceremony.

She mentioned that when she got married, only Salman and Sooraj ji represented her family as they were the ones who attended the wedding since her own family did not.

1989 saw the release of Maine Pyar Kiya, a highly acclaimed romantic musical movie that served as Sooraj Barjatya’s directorial launchpad. This was Salman Khan’s initial major role, while Bhagyashree made her debut in a leading part as well. The cast also included Alok Nath, Mohnish Bahl, Reema Lagoo, Rajeev Verma, Ajit Vachani, and Laxmikant Berde in significant roles.
