As a dedicated follower of Indian cinema, I have always been intrigued by the stories of actors and their interactions with the industry’s biggest names. And today, I want to share my take on Rajeev Khandelwal’s heartwarming encounter with Shah Rukh Khan.
Rajeev Khandelwal, who initially appeared in Raj Kumar Gupta’s Bollywood movie “Aamir” back in 2008, recently featured in the Disney+Hotstar series “Showtime.” In this production from 2024, he portrayed the character of Armaan Singh, a made-up Bollywood celebrity.
Khandelwal recently shared an anecdote about his initial encounter with Shah Rukh Khan, which took him by surprise when the famous star approached him unexpectedly.
Rajeev Khandelwal talks about meeting Shah Rukh Khan for the first time
In an interview with Radio Nasha, Rajeev Khandelwal reminisced about the first encounter he had with Shah Rukh Khan. He described the occasion by sharing that at the time, he was seated with one leg resting on the table.
The actor stated, “Shah Rukh Khan and Karan Johar are approaching where I am, so I place my feet on the ground as a sign of respect to these senior figures in the industry.”
Khandelwal recalled looking away before noticing SRK and Karan making their approach. They introduced themselves to him as the actors did so.
Regarding King Khan, the actor of Table No. 21 made this declaration: “Introduce yourself to me now as well, or I might feel disrespected.”
Using the phrase “sincere people,” Rajeev Khandelwal recounted how Shah Rukh had once wished him good luck in his profession. Additionally, Karan Johar mentioned that his mother was an avid admirer of Khandelwal.
Rajeev Khandelwal felt that celebs from the film industry would show him “attitude”
During a centennial celebration honoring the late father of Maharashtra’s former Aviation Minister, Praful Patel, Rajeev Khandelwal had the opportunity to meet Shah Rukh Khan. The event drew many notable figures from the industry.
At the guest list, Khandelwal was the lone representative from television. Initially, he turned down the invitation. Nevertheless, since he had a commitment to appear on the Showtime event, he ultimately attended the celebration.
At the occasion where Shah Rukh Khan, Sanjay Dutt, and Karan Johar were among the spectators, Khandelwal realized he had made a mistake during my performance. I berated myself and wished I hadn’t shown up.
As the crowd applauded his act on Showtime, Rajeev Khandelwal felt apprehensive about how Hollywood celebrities would treat him. Yet, after meeting Shah Rukh Khan and Karan Johar, he expressed that such encounters are why he continues to appreciate the film industry despite any potential negativity.
