As a dedicated follower of Bollywood, I have had the privilege of witnessing some truly memorable performances, but none quite like the one I experienced while working alongside Shah Rukh Khan on Kal Ho Naa Ho. The film was a unique experience for me as I got to observe the dedication and responsibility that comes with being the lead actor, especially when it comes to SRK.
In his latest role, Saif Ali Khan appeared alongside Jr. NTR and Janhvi Kapoor in Devara: Part 1. Previously, he worked with Shah Rukh Khan under Nikkhil Advani’s direction in Kal Ho Naa Ho, a 2003 film that also featured Preity Zinta. Interestingly, Saif Ali Khan, who acted alongside SRK in the movie, once disclosed that the star was quite dedicated during filming. He mentioned that the leading actor tends to put in a bit more effort on set.
In a 2018 interview with Film Companion, Saif Ali Khan discussed his collaboration with Shah Rukh Khan on the 2003 movie “Kal Ho Naa Ho.” Saif fondly remembered that SRK was extremely helpful and supportive towards the entire production team during the film’s creation.
Saif recently completed working in Kal Ho Naa Ho, where he had an extremely close collaboration with Shah Rukh Khan. Through this experience, he gained some insight into what it takes for a lead actor – beyond just acting – to provide additional support, such as being mindful of their behavior and attitude both on-screen and off-screen, as they essentially carry the weight of the production.
In simpler terms, during the filming of Kal Ho Naa Ho, Devara recalled that Shah Rukh always approached the sets with the weight of a superstar on his shoulders, and everyone, including the cast and crew, admired how he handled Maneesh Advani’s direction so gracefully.
During filming, the actor from Kal Ho Naa Ho observed Shah Rukh Khan addressing various production difficulties and problems on the set. Moreover, Saif mentioned that Shah Rukh displayed a mature and accountable attitude throughout the shooting process.
Previously, Mahima Chaudhry had discussed the charismatic presence of Shah Rukh Khan as she shared memories from their collaboration on Subhash Ghai’s film Pardes.
During an interview with Radio Nasha, Mahima reminisced about a movie set where they eagerly anticipated Shah Rukh Khan’s arrival for 20 days. When he eventually showed up, she described the scene as everyone gathering closely around him. The actress from Pardes affectionately referred to Shah Rukh Khan as a “master craftsman.
Under the direction of Karan Johar from Dharma Productions, the film Kal Ho Naa Ho featured actors like Jaya Bachchan, Sonali Bendre, Rajpal Yadav, Sushma Seth, Reema Lagoo, among others.
