As a long-time follower of Bollywood, I’ve had the pleasure of witnessing the evolution of many talented actors. Among them, Shahid Kapoor stands out as a charming and wholesome individual, whose simplicity and family values have always been commendable. His on-screen chemistry with Sonam Kapoor in Mausam was a testament to their camaraderie off-screen, which I found truly endearing.
Shahid Kapoor, who initially entered Bollywood with Ken Ghosh’s 2003 film “Ishq Vishk”, is getting ready for the upcoming release of “Deva” in 2025. His most recent appearance was alongside Kriti Sanon in “Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya” earlier this year. At one point, Sonam Kapoor, his co-star from the film “Mausam”, was taken aback to discover Shahid’s reputation as a ‘flirt’, and even labeled him as the ‘biggest charmer in the world’.
During the 2011 promotion of Mausam with Zoom, Sonam Kapoor was questioned about Shahid Kapoor being labeled as a flirt and a charmer. Sonam replied, “He isn’t like that at all. He is the most genuine person in the world…
After acting alongside Shahid in Mausam, the actress complimented him by stating that he is quite uncomplicated and has only a few aspirations, such as his motorcycles. Sonam further added that Shahid is not complicated, with this quality being the “wonderful aspect” about him. In essence, she described him as a “straightforward, kind, and genuine gentleman”.
Aisha star also mentioned that Shahid is a man who you could feel honored introducing to your mother. Meanwhile, Sonam praised his familial ties, stating that she appreciates the closeness between Shahid and his family members. In fact, it was disclosed that Shahid and his family are very close-knit individuals.
Sonam praised her past co-stars as truly exceptional, but she singled out Shahid as particularly genuine and sincere amongst them all.
In 2011, Mausam – a film both written and directed by Pankaj Kapur, an acclaimed actor and director who is also Shahid Kapoor’s father – hit the screens. The narrative centered around a timeless love story that spanned over a decade from 1992 to 2002.
In the movie, Shahid portrayed the character of Harinder Singh, also known as Harry, who started off as a carefree Punjabi man but eventually joined the Indian Air Force. Meanwhile, Sonam played the role of Aayat, a young woman from Kashmir.
In 2007, Sonam Kapoor debuted in the movie industry with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s production, “Saawariya,” alongside newcomer Ranbir Kapoor. Over the years, she has appeared in various films such as “I Hate Luv Storys,” “Aisha,” “The Zoya Factor,” “Neerja,” “Raanjhanaa,” “Veere Di Wedding,” and “Khoobsurat.” Most recently, Sonam Kapoor was featured in the 2023 crime thriller film, “Blind.
