In the game titled Monster Hunter World, there are numerous materials available. It’s hard to keep track, truth be told. Each monster carries materials, and even more so at High Rank. However, it’s not just monsters that provide materials in this game. There is a significant number of items you can discover during exploration as well.
As a dedicated fan, I can’t help but yearn for the thrilling underwater combats that were absent in Monster Hunter 3. Regrettably, it hasn’t made a reappearance as of now. However, there’s a hint of it here, where you can dive beneath the waves in specific locations. It’s in these submerged realms where you’ll have the chance to gather the rare and valuable Gobletweed and Chaliceweed.
How To Get Gobletweed And Chaliceweed
Gobletweed is an item that you might acquire and then struggle to remember its origin due to it being quite elusive, as it can only be found in particular spots within the Scarlet Forest. Notably, both it and its less common cousin, Chaliceweed, are exclusively discovered underwater. As you traverse the world, you’ll occasionally stumble upon bodies of water with a ‘Dive In’ prompt. This allows you to plunge into the water, swimming along a predetermined path beneath the surface.
Although you have limited control underwater, you can still navigate your surroundings and aim using your Slinger. This gives you an opportunity to collect items in this temporary submerged area. Notably, you can find Gobletweed and Chaliceweed by harvesting from the Glass Algae plant.
Once you’ve collected from a specific Glass Algae location, you can easily mark it on your map for quick re-finding in the future.
At Glass Algae collection sites, Gobletweed is the standard loot, but Chaliceweed is the more elusive find. During the period known as The Plenty, the chance of obtaining Chaliceweed significantly increases, particularly from those spots that shimmer with white sparks. Additionally, boosting your Botanist and Geologist skills can enhance the number of items you get from each gathering location.
Uses For Gobletweed and Chaliceweed

After collecting some Gobletweed and Chaliceweed, I found myself pondering what to do next. Of course, these items grant me a decent amount of Guild Points, but they have a unique purpose too – they’re essential for trading with the legendary Wudwud, Rove.
Rove, who resides in the Iceshard Cliffs, is unique among the characters as he utilizes Gobletweed and Chaliceweed. With these, you can barter for numerous items such as Comaqchi Carapace and Truffle du Conga. It’s a hint of his homeland for him, and a beneficial exchange for you.
Whenever feasible, remember to activate the Gathering Boost in the Iceshard Cliffs, as this will increase the number of items that Rove trades with you.
