As a gamer with a soft spot for nostalgia, I can’t help but feel a bit of excitement about the release of Twisters. Growing up, I remember the original Twister being one of those movies that made me want to become a storm chaser (or at least a weather forecaster). Now, with the sequel hitting digital platforms, it feels like a piece of my childhood is coming back to life.
Following its massive earnings of over $333 million at worldwide cinemas, Twisters has now begun to rage in home theaters.
You can now purchase or rent the highly anticipated follow-up to the 1996 blockbuster film on digital platforms like Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, and other top video-on-demand services. In this sequel, Daisy Edgar-Jones plays Kate Cooper, a meteorologist who was once a storm chaser, and Glen Powell portrays Tyler Owens, a YouTube sensation known as a “tornado wrangler.” Additionally, Anthony Ramos, Brandon Perea, Sasha Lane, and David Corenswet are part of the stellar cast in this new production.

Back in 1996, I was glued to the screen watching Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton in the movie Twister. It was a blockbuster, raking in an impressive $495 million worldwide. Now, Powell, my co-star from our film Red Wing, shared some tricks with me that Bill used to bring his characters to life. I still remember those tips and keep Bill’s spirit alive every time I step onto the set.
“Acting outdoors can sometimes make an actor squint, but a trick I learned from someone taught me to close my eyes and look up at the sun to warm them. This way, I can open my eyes comfortably even in bright sunlight. While filming ‘Twisters’, I used this trick throughout because I was shooting outdoors the whole time. It’s a trick I’ve relied on since meeting that person, and every time I closed my eyes during filming, it reminded me of him, which was wonderful.”
Edgar-Jones has been creating a fashion frenzy during her appearances on the red carpet for Twisters. The renowned British actress collaborates with stylist Dani Michelle, who adorned the star in a sleek ivory Gucci backless gown for the LA film premiere, a stylish dark cutout Coperni dress for the Seoul event of Twisters, and a structured Vivienne Westwood gown for the London premiere – these are merely a few examples.

How to Watch the Original Twister Film Online
Back in 1996, I found myself utterly captivated by the thrilling movie “Twister,” where Bill Paxton and Helen Hunt played fearless storm-chasing scientists chasing one of nature’s most destructive forces – a powerful tornado. If you haven’t seen it yet or want to revisit this classic, you can stream it until September 1 on Max (according to Amazon), or buy/rent it digitally on Prime Video, Apple TV, and various other platforms.
Twisters: Storyline, Plot, Cast
In the movie titled “Twisters,” directed by Lee Isaac Chung, the lead roles are played by Glen Powell as YouTube storm chaser Tyler Owens and Daisy Edgar-Jones as meteorologist Kate Cooper. Five years ago, a college research project ended tragically for Oklahoma native Kate, causing her to abandon her storm-chasing career for a desk job in New York City’s weather tracking. She later rekindles an old relationship with her former colleague Javi (Anthony Ramos). Excited by the prospect of his team of storm chasers, which includes Tyler, Javi manages to secure funding from a wealthy investor. Now, he is trying to persuade Kate to rejoin his storm-chasing crew once more.
As a parent who has been there before, I understand that finding appropriate movies for my kids can be quite challenging. The PG-13 rating and two-hour run time might seem manageable at first glance, but it’s essential to consider the content and actors involved. After watching countless films with my family, I have learned that even a seemingly innocuous cast list can hide mature themes or language. In this case, “The film” features Brandon Perea, Maura Tierney, Sasha Lane, Harry Hadden-Paton, David Corenswet, Tunde Adebimpe, and Katy O’Brian. While some of these actors may have appeared in family-friendly productions before, it’s always a good idea to do your homework on the movie’s plot and themes. So, if you’re considering watching “The film” with your kids, I would advise doing some research or even watching a trailer first to make an informed decision based on your family’s values and comfort level.
