As a long-time fan of Jean-Claude Van Damme and his action-packed films, I was thrilled to see him back in action in “Kill ’em All 2.” The man can still deliver high kicks and flips with the best of them, despite turning 65 this year. But it’s not just JCVD that caught my attention in this movie – it’s the introduction of Vanessa, played by Jacqueline Fernandez.
Vanessa is a mysterious figure who seems to have a connection to our hero Philip (JCVD). As it turns out, she’s his long-lost daughter! After years of estrangement, they are reunited in the South Italian town of Mola di Bari. I found myself rooting for this father-daughter duo as they fought against Vlad and his gang of assassins.
Jacqueline Fernandez is a Sri Lankan actress who has been making waves in the Indian film industry since 2009. She’s appeared in over 40 films, including “Murder 2,” “Housefull,” and “Kick.” But it’s her performance as Vanessa in “Kill ’em All 2” that has caught the attention of action movie fans worldwide. Fernandez holds her own opposite JCVD, proving she can handle herself in a fight and protect her father with guile and unflappable command.
Despite some poor reviews, I found “Kill ’em All 2” to be a fun and entertaining action movie. And I have to admit, I laughed when Vanessa took down one of Vlad’s cohorts with a well-placed kick to the groin – talk about a father-daughter bonding moment! If you’re looking for some mindless fun and want to see JCVD and Jacqueline Fernandez in action, be sure to check out “Kill ’em All 2” on Netflix. Just remember to keep your hands where I can see them!
On Christmas Day, action movie enthusiasts received a present from Netflix in the form of “Kill ’em All 2,” featuring Jean-Claude Van Damme. Even at the age of 65 this year, The Muscles from Brussels hasn’t lost his signature blend of graceful movements and acrobatic agility that fans have admired since the 1980s. The plot picks up seven years after where the 2017 action-thriller “Kill ’em All” concluded, with Van Damme’s character Philip facing off against a merciless Franco-Russian terrorist seeking vengeance.
In the sequel of “Kill ’em All”, a fresh character named Vanessa (portrayed by Jaqueline Fernandez) makes an appearance, distinct from the original cast. As the story unfolds, subtle hints about her background are revealed, which might be overlooked by some viewers. To shed more light on this enigmatic figure in “Kill ’em All 2”, let’s explore who Vanessa is, her role within the plot, and how her bond with Philip (JCVD) shapes the overall narrative.
What is Kill ’em All 2 About?
On September 24, 2024, the movie “Kill ’em All 2” was unveiled, following up on the 2017 release of “Kill ’em All.” Directed by Peter Malota, the original storyline revolved around an enigmatic stranger, recovering from severe injuries at a hospital. As nurse Suzanne (Autumn Reeser) tenderly cares for him, it’s revealed that his name is Philip and he has a shady past. However, Philip’s past catches up with him when a ruthless gang of international criminals storm the hospital with lethal intentions.
With Philip determinedly guarding the hospital no matter what, law enforcement agencies step in. However, FBI Agent Sanders (Maria Conchita Alonso) and CIA operative Holman (Peter Stormare) reveal hidden agendas, leaving Philip to navigate as a lone crusader. Eventually, both characters reappear in the sequel, joining a fresh batch of antagonists alongside Stormare and Alsono.
Following his hospital ordeal in the initial movie, Philip persists in battling global terrorists in “Kill ’em All 2,” directed by Valeri Milev. In the original Van Damme flick, Philip was pitted against Russian criminals headed by Radovan Brokovski (Daniel Bernhardt) and his top assassin, Almira (Mila Kalađurđević). Seven years later in the sequel, Philip is tasked with overcoming Vlad Petrovic (Andrei Lenart) and his ruthless henchmen.
For fans of Jean-Claude Van Damme (JCVD), an interesting detail arises when Philip eliminates one of Vlad’s henchmen, Ivan, portrayed by JCVD’s actual son, Nicolas Van Varenberg, known as Nic Van Damme in the credits. Interestingly, JCVD’s other son, Kris Van Varenberg, played Dusan in the original film, thereby expanding JCVD’s cinematic heritage. In terms of family connections, Vanessa’s character in Kill ’em All 2 shares a unique bond with Philip.
Who Is Vanessa in Kill ’em All 2?
In the sequel titled “Kill ’em All 2”, the story begins with Philip discovering that Vlad, the antagonist’s brother from the last film, Dimitri (played by Eddie Matthews), is seeking vengeance. Vlad sends a team of assassins to eliminate Philip, but their persistent ineptitude infuriates him. Meanwhile, Philip takes refuge in the Italian town of Mola di Bari, scouting for a new residence. When spectators encounter Philip house hunting, he is accompanied by a young woman named Vanessa (played by Fernandez).
1. Vanessa is the long-lost child of Philip who has recently reconnected with him following a prolonged period apart. Since Philip was responsible for Vlad’s brother’s death in the initial movie, Vlad aims to retaliate by going after Vanessa and destroying the most valuable person in Philip’s life.
2. However, thanks to her extensive martial arts training, Vanessa is able to fend off the Franco-Russian terrorists and become a reliable ally to her father. Whether it’s keeping watch or using swift and powerful punches to take down several of Vlad’s henchmen, Vanessa demonstrates she can hold her own and safeguard her father with intelligence and unwavering determination.
In the typical fashion of an action movie, Philip and Vanessa find themselves relying on one another to stay alive amidst Vlad’s retaliation scheme. Critics may have panned its unoriginal narrative and subpar action scenes, but Kill ’em All 2 persists in chronicling the saga of familial vengeance. Following Philip’s killing of Dimitri, Vlad is determined to exact revenge on Vanessa, who happens to be his daughter. While this film may not reach Jean-Claude Van Damme’s peak performance, it promises to boost newcomer action star Jacqueline Fernandez in the industry.
