Who Voices The Camel In Geico's Hump Day Commercial?

As a fan who has followed Chris Sullivan’s remarkable journey, I must say his life experience is nothing short of inspiring. From humble beginnings in local Chicago theater to voicing the iconic Geico camel and gracing our screens on hit shows like “This Is Us” and the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Sullivan has truly come a long way.

The iconic “Hump Day” commercial by Geico is well-known, yet you might find it intriguing to discover that the camel’s voice belongs to Chris Sullivan, a popular actor recognized mainly from the successful NBC series “This Is Us.”

In August 2019, during an interview, Sullivan humorously disclosed that he lends his voice to the camel in the 2013 commercial. When asked about his voiceover work, Sullivan chuckled, implying that the audience seemed more captivated by his portrayal of a camel than his role as Toby on “This Is Us.” He further mentioned his extensive theater background, having studied at the Oxford School of Drama. Despite the fact that most people recognize him from the voice of the camel, Sullivan expressed his contentment with this and jokingly suggested that he might bring a camel as his date to an upcoming Emmys event.

Apart from the Geico camel commercial, in what other places have you come across Sullivan? If you’re a fan of shows like “This Is Us” or movies within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, then you’ve undoubtedly encountered Sullivan’s talent previously.

Following his debut in community theater in Chicago, Chris Sullivan found significant success on television due to his part in “The Knick,” a medical series produced by Stephen Soderbergh that aired on Cinemax from 2014 to 2015. However, it was his character as Toby on “This Is Us” that significantly expanded his fanbase. This popular family drama, which followed the Pearson family, ran from 2016 to 2022, encompassing six seasons and over a hundred episodes. Sullivan played a pivotal role in the show as the first husband of Kate Pearson (Chrissy Metz). Not only did his performance on “This Is Us” boost his popularity and recognition, but it also earned him two Emmy nominations for exceptional supporting actor in a drama series.

Beyond his role on “This Is Us,” Sullivan has also made appearances on various other shows, including “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,” “The Americans,” “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” and “The Good Fight.” He’s been involved in two different Marvel Cinematic Universe projects – he played Taserface in “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” and voiced the same character for a vocal performance in the Disney+ series “What If…?” This is quite a departure from his early days, where he lent his voice to a CGI camel in an insurance commercial.

To catch Sullivan’s act on “This Is Us”, you can stream the full show on both Netflix and Hulu.
