Why Candace Cameron Bure Says Horror Films Can Lead to a “Portal” That’s “Incredibly Demonic”

Candace Cameron Bure refrains from allowing her family to watch horror films at their residence due to a particular reason.

Actress Candace Cameron Bure, known for her role in Full House and vocal about her Christian beliefs, shared her perspectives on horror movies during a recent installment of The Candace Cameron Bure Podcast.

At our home, I sometimes sense my family teasing me when discussing certain topics, especially when it comes to spiritual matters. They frequently mock me, and this is more noticeable when I’m expressing a belief about a profound spiritual event taking place. For instance, they make fun of me regarding the concept of a portal, as if it’s absurd. My children, Natasha, Lev, and Maksim, along with my husband Valeri Bure, often laugh at me because of this portal idea. I respond by telling them, ‘You’re opening up a portal.’

In her explanation, Bure clarified the term “portal” she used, likening it to instances such as watching a video or playing a game on a device. For her, these activities serve as potential gateways that could allow things into our homes. Even something seemingly innocuous like watching a scary movie on TV, in her perspective, is considered a portal.

The actress from the Hallmark Channel openly recognized the irony, given her long career in acting that began during childhood, and her familiarity with the filmmaking process. Yet, she maintains a sense of unease regarding horror films, describing them as having an almost sinister quality.

Bure remarked, ‘I’m part of the film world, so I get how productions run. A movie like this requires a team of 200, handling lighting, sound effects, makeup, cameras, and actors. But even with all that effort, there can still be something eerily unsettling about it.’

In a subsequent podcast discussion with her son Lev and pastor Jonathan Pokluda from Texas, Bure mentioned that she shares a comparable sentiment towards certain items which stir up feelings akin to those evoked by horror movies, like the canned water brand, Liquid Death.

She mentioned to Pokluda, ‘That brought back memories of when you shared something earlier about Liquid Death. You had said something like, ‘Are you considering purchasing a product that is actually being cursed as it’s being distributed?’
