Why Disney+’s Double Episode Release for Daredevil: Born Again is a Game Changer!

Attention: Major Plot Twists Lie Ahead in Episodes 5 and 6 of Daredevil: Born Again, which can now be streamed exclusively with a Disney+ membership following its release on March 25.

Disney Plus is now broadening the series that sparked its Marvel universe on Netflix with “Daredevil: Born Again“, which seems more like Season 4 of the original show than a fresh start. A notable change in the 2025 TV lineup is Disney+ releasing episodes weekly instead of all at once as they did on Netflix before. Although it took some time to adjust, I’ve grown fond of this approach. Notably, after viewing Episodes 5 and 6 titled “With Interest” and “Excessive Force”, I appreciate that Disney+ decided to release two episodes in one week instead of their usual weekly schedule.

In reality, the second instance breaks the rule, since episodes 1 and 2 were initially released together, creating a premiere event rather than two individual parts. However, episodes 5 and 6 can be considered unique from each other, which is why I’m pleased they were grouped as such. “With Interest” had a standalone quality, with the most significant development for much of the episode appearing to be the connections to Ms. Marvel, featuring Mohan Kapur as Yusuf Khan.

The story concludes with Matt, pushed to the brink by a failed bank robbery, resorting to vigilante action, much like Daredevil. In a dramatic turn of events, he physically broke the leg of one of the culprits and wore a mask during this incident, although it wasn’t his traditional Daredevil mask.

This episode was crucial for the progression of Season 1’s narrative due to its conclusion, yet it seemed self-contained for most of its duration, apart from the last few minutes. Although I enjoy episodes that delve into character development rather than solely advancing the plot, I was apprehensive about fan reactions since not everyone shares this preference. While I view standalone episodes as distinct from “fillers,” it appears there’s a difference of opinion among viewers on this matter, and social media reflects this divide.

It felt great and satisfying when Episode 6 returned to the main storyline, allowing Matt’s character growth from Episode 5 to unfold. Initially, I was a bit let down that Jon Bernthal wasn’t credited for reappearing as The Punisher in this season, but we did see significant advancements regarding Muse instead.

Initially, Fisk, the law enforcement, and Matt eventually discovered a chilling truth: a serial killer with an alarming number of victims had been creating murals throughout the city using the blood of his targets. This revelation presented two different paths for Fisk and Matt. For Fisk, it meant he could assemble the most questionable members of the NYPD to establish his Anti-Vigilante Task Force. On the other hand, for Matt, it provided a reason to forgo dialing 911 and instead put on his Daredevil suit again, venturing into an abandoned subway tunnel to confront Muse and save young Angela, who was eager to learn about White Tiger’s demise.

The battle was an incredibly intense spectacle that momentarily erased from my mind the anticipation of witnessing The Punisher once more. What I found satisfying was Daredevil’s return to action, and the wait was indeed justified considering the engaging narrative around civilian Matt prior to his reemergence as a vigilante. For me, the delayed payoff made his transformation back into his heroic identity even more gratifying. Additionally, it would have diminished the experience if there had been a week-long break after Episode 5, as its climactic ending directly feeding into Episode 6 could have lost momentum during the hiatus.

On Disney+, you can immerse yourself in shows like Daredevil: Born Again or revisit classic series from Netflix, all in one place! Pricing begins at just $9.99 monthly for an ad-supported plan, while opting for ad-free streaming will set you back $15.99/month. Alternatively, you can save by pre-paying for a year at the cost of $159.00. Check out the deal here!

Even though I thoroughly enjoyed the double-episode release this time, I’ve remained a staunch supporter of the weekly format for several reasons. The anticipation and excitement of discussing “Daredevil: Born Again” and developing theories throughout the days between episodes is something that simply wasn’t feasible with Netflix’s model. If Disney+ were to release all episodes now, I would definitely binge-watch them, but I’m content to embark on this weekly journey at the moment. Moreover, given Charlie Cox’s exceptional performance in this season, it’s a treat to savor his acting prowess over two months instead of cramming it into one day.

Every Tuesday at 9 p.m. ET, don’t forget to log into Disney+ for the newest episodes of Daredevil: Born Again. With Matt back in his suit once more, he faces challenges greater than ever before. Fisk is once again dabbling in darkness, the Anti-Vigilante Task Force is active, Muse continues to wreak havoc, and Bullseye may return based on early sneak peeks. Let’s hope we see Daredevil and Punisher teaming up sooner! Matt could definitely benefit from additional support.
