Why Haven’t Venom And Spider-Man Had A Movie? Tom Hardy Gets Honest About Crossover That Never Happened

As a lifelong fan of the Spider-Man universe, I can’t help but feel a pang of disappointment every time I hear about the missed opportunity for Venom and Spidey to share the screen. Tom Hardy’s portrayal of Eddie Brock has been nothing short of captivating, and his longing to battle it out with our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man is palpable.

As a devoted fan, I can’t help but acknowledge the significant impact the superhero genre holds in the world of entertainment, be it on the big screen or our small screens at home. Over the years, I’ve been an avid follower of the Marvel cinematic universe, and Sony’s Spider-Man universe has always intrigued me due to its unique position within this realm. However, I’ve noticed something peculiar – the absence of Tom Holland’s Peter Parker from Sony’s universe, even in the Venom franchise, which recently concluded with “The Last Dance.

Initially, the first “Venom” film (available on Disney+), unexpectedly became a box office success, leading to the development of a complete trilogy. However, throughout this series, Spider-Man has always been an overarching presence, yet Tom Holland’s character doesn’t feature in “The Last Dance.” In an interview with MTV, Tom Hardy was asked about working with Peter Parker, explaining the reason for their non-collaboration thus far.

To be honest, I’m not certain about that. While there are possibilities, they would still be educated guesses. You understand, I’m merely speculating. In truth, I don’t have the knowledge to answer authoritatively on this matter, but it doesn’t necessarily mean I’m not interested in finding out more. That’s something I genuinely want to know as well.

Although Hardy declared Tom Holland as his preferred Spider-Man, it doesn’t guarantee they’ll appear together in a movie. Regrettably, there’s no obvious explanation for why their characters didn’t share a screen, and at this moment, Hardy can’t immediately think of a reason he could share.

So far, Spider-Man hasn’t made an appearance in any of Sony’s movie universe, such as “Morbius”, “Madame Web”, and the upcoming “Kraven The Hunter”. Fans have been eagerly waiting for a showdown between Eddie Brock (Venom) and Peter Parker, especially after the post-credits scene of “Venom 2” hinted at this conflict. In a recent interview, Tom Hardy expressed his surprise that he never got to fight Spider-Man on screen.

As a fellow gamer, I’ve been pondering this – it seems many of us share the same desire. Truth be told, I can’t figure out the exact method myself, but if I had to guess, I’d say it’s something that a good chunk of fans would appreciate. Myself included, I must admit. If Tom is on board too, which I believe he might be, then I see no reason why we couldn’t make it happen. The question now is not ‘Can we?’, but rather ‘How?’

It appears that “The Last Dance” is likely the final film in the “Venom” series, suggesting that a crossover may not happen in future installments. However, if there’s enough demand for it, actor Tom Hardy could potentially make an appearance in a Spider-Man movie. As of now, it’s uncertain who the antagonist in the upcoming fourth film will be; actor Tom Holland has mentioned reading a draft of the script. All this talk about a crossover might persuade the studio to unite Venom and Spider-Man on the big screen someday. Let’s hope so!
