As a seasoned gamer and Marvel fanatic who has been following the WandaVision saga since its inception, I must say that the latest episode of Agatha All Along left me utterly spellbound. It’s not every day that we get to witness an entire backstory unfold for one of our favorite characters, especially when it involves the enigmatic figure of Billy Maximoff aka Teen Witch.
Warning! The following contains spoilers for Episode 6 of Agatha All Along, so avoid reading further if you haven’t seen it yet.
The fifth and sixth episodes of Agatha All Along have finally shed light on one of the Fall TV season’s most captivating mysteries. Despite the anticipation surrounding Billy Maximoff being revealed as Joe Locke’s teen persona, which was already hinted at by leaks and whispers, watching the heartfelt backstory unfold for William Kaplan becoming Wanda’s son and discovering Agatha was an absolute delight. The series skillfully wove in references to earlier episodes, and I suspect it provided us with a solution to Lilia’s enigmatic, seemingly random prophetic outbursts.
Furthermore, “Familiar By Thy Side” also clarified the origin of the symbol that prevented the teen from disclosing his true name to other witches. This fact logically accounts for why the identical symbol appeared on every promotional tarot card released prior to the season’s debut. To recap, let’s reexamine what this episode revealed and how it seems highly probable that Lilia wasn’t merely quirky or forgetful in earlier episodes.
Lilia Was Responsible For Billy’s Sigil, And Immediately Forgot About It
On a day that proved tragic for both the Kaplan family and the residents of Westview, much like our friend Bohnerrific69 would say, William Kaplan sought a palm reading from Liila. Her words left him so unsettled that he forgot to take his coat with him. (Palm-reading tents are not typically found at Bar Mitzvah parties, either in New Jersey or anywhere else.) Feeling similarly disturbed, perhaps due to predicting William’s demise, Liila created a symbol and slipped it into his jacket pocket.
Interestingly, Patti LuPone’s character appeared to forget her recent actions and gave no indication that they had just met William. To clarify, this moment of confusion was set within the context of events from Episode 4, for those who may have missed Agatha’s brief explanation or skipped the “Recap” segment. Later, after denying creating the sigil, Agatha admitted she couldn’t confirm, because:
A sigil works on the witch who casts it as well. That’s why we don’t use them as much.
It seems that in order to protect William/Billy from other witches, Lilia may not have had a better option than resorting to using a sigil. This less-than-perfect choice could explain why instances of Lilia acting dazed might be related.
I Think The Sigil Was Stopping Lilia From Understanding And Remembering Her Predictions
Everything we’ve learned suggests Lilia as an authentic seer whose predictions usually don’t confuse her or cause her to forget having made them. Otherwise, she might not recall possessing such abilities at all. In essence, it seems something more than just “The Path being peculiar” is influencing the witch’s state of mind.
Based on my interpretation, it seems each of Lilia’s spontaneous outbursts might be hinting at specific events in an upcoming episode of “Agatha All Along.” However, due to these occurrences being closely linked to Billy, the symbol previously prevented her from recognizing this connection, which explains why she can’t recall what she just said during those instances.
At the conclusion of Episode 6, both Lilia and Jen remain trapped within their marshy graves, contrasted by Agatha’s escape. This leaves us in suspense as we anticipate if Lilia will exhibit any more outbursts upon her resurfacing, and if she can remember them. Similar to how Rio emerged on the Witches’ Path in Episode 4.
If she’s unable and appears unsettled, I might resort to using my unique approach to validate this theory, rather than letting it sink in the depths. However, rest assured that I won’t need any supernatural assistance for this to work; I’m certain my evidence will speak for itself.
