As a gamer who has spent countless hours immersed in the digital worlds of various games throughout my life, I find myself empathizing with James Van Der Beek‘s stance on shielding his children from watching ‘Dawson’s Creek’. Like many actors, he became synonymous with the character he played in that iconic teen drama. However, just as a gamer might not want their kids to see them frantically attempting to level up or survive in a virtual world, Van Der Beek doesn’t seem keen on his children witnessing him go through the trials of adolescence – even if it is only pretend!
James Van Der Beek isn’t planning on allowing his kids to watch his famous role in “Dawson’s Creek” at the moment.
The actor, previously known for portraying Dawson Leery in a popular teen drama spanning 1998-2003, confessed on the talk show “The View” that he restricts his six children from viewing the successful program.
He expressed that he finds the show excellent and enjoys it. He believes that other children could also appreciate it. However, regarding his own kids, he doesn’t feel comfortable having them watch a program where their father acts as if going through puberty, which is his personal viewpoint.
Van Der Beek commented on the show’s success, “It was a sincerely motivated production, with everyone genuinely striving to act ethically and expressing their intentions admirably. I believe the essence of those good intentions shines through.
The television series titled Dawson’s Creek featured Katie Holmes, Michelle Williams, and Joshua Jackson among its cast members. This show focused on the experiences of four teenagers residing in the small Massachusetts town of Capeside, as they navigated their way through adolescence.
Actor from “Varsity Blues” has a family of six kids: Olivia (age 14), Joshua (age 12), Annabel (age 10), Emilia (age 8), Gwen (age 6), and Jeremiah (age 3). He is married to Kimberly Van Der Beek.
During his interview on The View, Van Der Beek also discussed his colorectal cancer diagnosis from earlier this year. “It was a surprise,” he confided. “I was in excellent physical condition for my heart. I believed I was eating healthily, and I thought I was taking good care of myself. Then, yes, I had the colonoscopy. The doctor told me it was cancer, and I think I went into shock.
Earlier this week, the actor from the movie “Sidelined: The QB and Me” shared on “Good Morning America” that receiving his cancer diagnosis was like a “nightmare.” He expressed that while he’s feeling great physically, it’s been quite an emotional rollercoaster for him.
