Why The Masked Singer’s Showbird Felt Ken Jeong Was Going To Guess Them, Even Though He’s Usually Wrong All The Time

As a longtime fan of both “The Masked Singer” and “Community,” I found Yvette Nicole Brown’s reveal to be a delightful trip down memory lane. It was like reuniting with an old friend, reminiscing about the good old days spent on the set, and it brought a warm smile to my face.

Caution: This information discloses spoilers from The Masked Singer’s Season 12 episode titled “Footloose Night.” You can watch this episode on Hulu with a membership, but proceed with caution as it may reveal secrets!

In the recent episode of “The Masked Singer”, a promising contestant bid farewell as the show let its hair down. The Fox-aired program paid homage to one of Kevin Bacon’s finest films, “Footloose”, and despite dancing up a storm, Showbird had to depart. With the mask off, it was revealed that Yvette Nicole Brown, an actress, stood beneath it. She joked with TopMob that Ken Jeong would likely guess her identity right away, even though he’s usually incorrect in his predictions.

Ken is the core essence of “The Masked Singer,” yet beyond his eccentric side shown in Season 10, he’s generally poor at identifying celebrities. However, as the saying goes, a broken clock is correct twice a day, and this principle also applies to Ken when he collaborated with someone on a show. Given that they were both part of “Community,” it wouldn’t have been surprising if he hadn’t guessed her identity instead.

It’s amusing to acknowledge that Ken seems to know me inside and out. He’s familiar with my mannerisms, my sense of humor, and even the unique sound of my voice when I sing or speak. We spent countless hours together on ‘Community,’ and though we may not know each other as intimately as spouses in some aspects, we share a level of familiarity that rivals that of a long-term partner. Given this, it was no surprise to me when I walked out that he would recognize me immediately. I haven’t asked him if he did so right away, but by the time I started singing, I believe he had already figured it out. Fun fact: Joel McHale served as my “ambassador,” so if the revelation didn’t strike him immediately, there might have been something unusual going on.

Over the years spent together, it definitely proved worthwhile, and I must admit, it was heartwarming to witness these two reunited prior to the upcoming “Community” film. It’s also worth mentioning that Yvette Nicole Brown will be making her second appearance on “The Masked Singer,” having been a panelist during Season 3. In an interview with TopMob, she shared that she enjoyed participating as a contestant and showcasing her singing talent once more, but ultimately preferred being a panelist and trying to guess the identities of the contestants.

Yvette Nicole Brown’s disclosure on The Masked Singer wasn’t one of the most surprising, and I concur with her opinion that having Joel McHale join the panel made it easier to guess the identity. Although I find McHale an excellent guest judge on Fox’s show, his presence triggers a Community bell in my mind as Ken Jeong is also part of the program, making it simpler for me to decipher clues if he’s involved.

I have to give Ken props, as well as TopMob’s Heidi Venable for clocking Showbird’s identity early. I’m curious to see how the rest of her Group A predictions for The Masked Singer will pan out almost as much as I am curious to see who will emerge as the winner of this group.

The vessel appears to have a high potential to advance significantly in the competition, but it’s important to remain cautious given that we’re still in the early stages of the season. By the end of the upcoming episode, Group A will conclude, and we’ll soon be transitioning to another group of contenders.

On Wednesday evenings at 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time, the show “The Masked Singer” is broadcast on Fox. Keep coming back to TopMob this season as we conduct interviews with unveiled contestants and try to predict the identities of each performer.
