Currently, the critical score is a commendable 77%, while the audience rating is 73%, indicating that it’s well-received by the public. The movie has been appreciated for its captivating and engaging plot, stunning visual design, and standout performances from its talented ensemble cast. Despite this, the film is said to have cost $118 million for production (with marketing costs estimated at around $80 million), necessitating approximately $300 million in global earnings just to cover its expenses. Consequently, Warner Bros. seems poised for a substantial financial loss.

A report from Puck further fanned these flames, suggesting a potential fate similar to Fox if the studio doesn’t see some significant successes this year. However, the situation seems to be improving with the unexpected triumph of “A Minecraft Movie,” which has blown past box office predictions, raking in an estimated $313 million globally in its opening weekend. This staggering success comes a full three months before the release of James Gunn’s highly anticipated superhero film, “Superman,” which could potentially be the game-changer Warner Bros. needs to steer clear of trouble.
