‘Wicked’ Dolls Featuring Link to Porn Site Flood eBay

As a seasoned gamer with a knack for hunting rare finds, I must admit, this latest fiasco with the Wicked dolls has piqued my curiosity. It’s not every day that a toy packaging error becomes a goldmine on eBay!

Opportunists are looking to cash in on an unfortunate error befalling the Wicked toy line.

Due to recent revelations that the packaging of Elphaba and Glinda character dolls from Universal’s movie version of the hit musical contained a link to an adult entertainment site instead of the official movie site, there has been a surge in listings for these dolls on eBay.

Listings advertising “Sexual MISTAKE on Mattel dolls!” or “UNCOMMON LINK TO ADULT CONTENT MISSHAPE” are asking for $140 to $200, when these products typically sell for around $25 to $40.

Collectors are willing to pay these high prices, hoping that the dolls (which both Mattel and Universal have been hastily removing from store shelves) will appreciate over time and become even more valuable.

There have already been dozens of sales of the toys on eBay, with one going for as high as $250.

Mattel apologized for the mistake, expressing their sincere regret and immediately addressing the issue. It’s important to note that parents should be aware that the inaccurate, unsuitable website they may have come across is not suitable for children.

On more than one occasion, I’ve come across regrettable typos on children’s items that sparked quite a stir.

Woodson, W.E.B. Du Bois, and Booker T. Washington.

Back in ’98, I stumbled upon a misstep in the Wolverine comic series I own dearly – an anti-Semitic term mistakenly used instead of “killer.” The publishers made an effort to recall and destroy all copies, but it seems some managed to evade their grasp and can still be found floating around online.
