Let me confirm if I got it right, your name is Greg, isn’t it?” or simply “Are you Greg?” (In this case, the original sentence is already clear and easy to read.)
What Gary had always dreaded to hear once more has unfortunately come to pass, yet it’s exactly what fans have been eagerly anticipating. Natasha Rothwell’s character, Belinda, finally recognizes Greg, the ruthless BLM agent portrayed by Jon Gries across all three seasons of Mike White’s vacation series “The White Lotus.” Belinda, reappearing from season one, now sees through Greg fully this time around.
In the third episode of the third season, Belinda switches her location from Maui to Thailand as part of an educational program. Here, she boldly faces off against the individual who orchestrated the murder of Tanya McQuoid, a character portrayed by Jennifer Coolidge in seasons one and two.
Though it’s not a full-blown fight, Belinda appears puzzled as she encounters Greg in Thailand, given that they last met in Hawaii during season one and she hadn’t heard about Coolidge’s spa enthusiast since then. When she questions him, the man disguised as “Gary” denies any connection to his past life, but he hasn’t forgotten their encounter either. After Belinda walks away, “Gary” glares menacingly at the masseuse.
It seems that Belinda may become the target for Greg’s shooting, considering the opening scene of season three implies a character will be shot, and now, it appears Belinda is within Greg’s line of sight. However, there’s someone out there who fervently wishes Belinda manages to confront Greg before he has the chance.
Jennifer Coolidge expressed her dislike for Greg to E! News recently, stating that he doesn’t merit any good fortune. She hopes he encounters what she deems fitting, which is something quite harsh.
It’s unclear if Belinda will mete out severe justice towards Tanya. Regardless of the outcome, it seems there are other matters weighing heavily on her mind, such as a growing office romance with colleague Pornchai (Dom Hetrakul). Here, Rothwell discusses re-entering the world of ‘The White Lotus’ and upcoming developments.

How did your first discussions go with Mike White when he invited you back to The White Lotus?
He shared with me that he was interested in delving into spirituality, and he was certain he wanted to do so somewhere in the east. Since Belinda served as a spiritual guide during the first season, her story would carry on in this place. I hadn’t seen any scripts yet, nor did I know what it entailed, but when Mike White asks you to participate, you agree. So, I was thrilled when the concept transformed from a mere idea into a genuine offer.
As I delve into this game once more, my eyes fall upon the scripts, and lo and behold, old friend Greg is back! It seems we’re revisiting the roots of season one, in various intriguing ways.
Indeed, that’s spot on! Regardless of the place, it’s always you who shows up. Intriguingly, she bumps into Greg here and seems to be struggling to remember how they know each other. It’s quite amusing, as Greg appears to be quite the opposite of Jon – gentle, warm-hearted, and full of love. However, Greg…
Terrifying.
Oh my! I hadn’t realized how intimidating he truly was until we began working on this season. And it’s not through his actions, but just with a glance. So, for Belinda, any shred of tranquility she found in Pornchai’s massages? It’ll be hard to hold onto that once she figures out what I have.
It seems as though Belinda might be given a chance to bring justice for Tanya, or at least carry on her tale. Was this aspect included in Mike’s initial proposal to you?
Absolutely not. Initially, we were led to believe that Season 1 was a standalone series with no follow-ups planned. However, the show’s success resulted in a second season, and it’s still expanding. It’s fantastic that Belinda is part of this ongoing journey, but I never assume anything, particularly when it comes to storytelling. I remain grateful for every opportunity, yet always approach it with humility and no expectations.
At the start of the new season, we see Belinda’s son Zion, played by Nicholas Duvernay, responding to a gunshot incident. This scene is extremely intense. I’m curious about your response, considering our previous association with Zion.
I found the series incredibly engrossing, so when I received all eight scripts simultaneously, I simply couldn’t stop reading. The scripts were hard to put down, especially after the first page. One particularly impactful scene was when Belinda had a phone conversation with her son, which beautifully depicted their relationship and the deep bond they share. Seeing Zion’s emotional reaction at the start of the premiere was like a powerful launch pad into this season, showcasing the depth of pain he was experiencing.
On top of that, Belinda’s maybe experiencing some romance…?
It seems to me that in every situation, one should always be open-minded. For her to venture into a new country to advance her skills is a significant step, and it places her in a position where she’s ready to embrace whatever opportunities the universe presents. There’s nothing more alluring than someone who appreciates the same passions as you do. Being around someone who encourages your personal growth makes it challenging to decline such an offer. How can one resist that?

In a sense, I find myself immersed in a narrative that showcases two distinct Belindas. One side is filled with the inspiring saga of Pornchai, while the other presents an unsettling situation with Greg. It’s a tale that swings between hope and concern.
Life has its ups and downs, doesn’t it? We all carry moments of joy and sorrow. The world may seem chaotic at times, especially now, but there are still good days to cherish. For her, the fear that lingers could find solace in Pornchai, a place she can find comfort and pleasure. This doesn’t mean things will be easy; they might even be more delicate. However, it’s the balance between light and dark that makes this time beautiful. The presence of one often enhances the other.
This period is incredibly dark, yet it’s filled with moments of brightness as well, demonstrating life’s intricate nature. As you delve deeper into self-exploration spiritually, you uncover a great deal of hidden issues. Playing Belinda was an exciting experience, as her character’s journey appears to be complex, particularly because she seems to be the one in the cast who is truly striving for inner peace among all the others.
