Will Ferrell to Star in Dirty Harry-Style Comedy, Street Justice

As a seasoned moviegoer with decades of cinematic adventures under my belt, I must say that the prospect of Will Ferrell stepping into the role of a modern-day Dirty Harry is nothing short of exhilarating! With his knack for comedy and penchant for character transformation, this could very well be a match made in celluloid heaven.

In his upcoming movie, Will Ferrell will be bringing laughter and justice to the streets. Known for his humor from his days on Saturday Night Live and more recently in the heartfelt documentary Will & Harper, Ferrell is reportedly in discussions to work with comedy director Peter Atencio on a film titled Street Justice. This new project seems to be inspired by the style of the classic movie, Dirty Harry.

As a passionate movie lover, I’m thrilled to share some exciting news! According to the latest updates from Deadline, the talented Will Ferrell is set to produce and star in an upcoming film for 20th Century Studios. This project is described as a gritty take on a character reminiscent of Dirty Harry, who takes matters of justice into his own hands. The script and original concept come from the brilliant mind of David Callaham.

What’s the Story Behind Street Justice?

Though specific plot details are being kept under wraps, we do know that Ferrell and Jessica Elbaum will serve as producers on behalf of Gloria Sanchez Productions, alongside David Koplan. Callaham will also serve as an executive producer.

Atencio’s previous works encompass elements such as ‘Keanu’ and ‘The Machine’, along with television series like ‘Jean-Claude Van Johnson’, ‘Key & Peele’, ‘The Last Man on Earth’, and ‘The Afterparty’. Notably, his recent endeavor is the upcoming blend of live-action and animation, titled ‘Animal Friends‘, which boasts the star power of Ryan Reynolds, Jason Momoa, Vince Vaughn, and Aubrey Plaza. This project is under Legendary Entertainment.

Callaham boasts an impressive list of noteworthy writing accomplishments, such as Wonder Woman 1984, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. He has also lent his pen to the script for the upcoming live-action Masters of the Universe film, starring Nicholas Galitzine, Camila Mendes, and Alison Brie.

Speaking of Ferrell, he’s not only popularly known for his current documentary titled “Will & Harper” – a road trip movie featuring him and his friend Harper Steele on a cross-country journey, as she embarks on her first road trip since announcing her transition as a transgender woman. You can also look forward to seeing him in the upcoming Reese Witherspoon wedding comedy titled “You’re Cordially Invited,” directed by Nick Stoller. Furthermore, he’s set to appear in the Netflix series “Golf,” alongside Ramy Youssef.
