Will The Biggest Cast Ever Change The Game In The Amazing Race Season 37?

I can hardly contain my excitement as the final days tick by before “The Amazing Race” graces our TV screens for Season 37 in 2025! It’s been an entire year since we last saw the Season 36 premiere, and CBS has been keeping us on the edge of our seats with all the anticipation-building hype. The latest twist they’ve teased is the Fork in the Road, which could potentially surpass the change to elimination legs. But what really has me buzzing for the new season is the size of the cast – a whopping 14 teams! This monumental number makes Season 37 the biggest in “The Amazing Race” history, and I can’t wait to see what incredible adventures await these intrepid racers!

Two of these teams discussed their perceived benefits with TopMob, yet I’m uncertain if these advantages will hold as significant weight amidst such fierce competition, compared to a less populated season.

The Biggest Season Yet

As a dedicated fan, I can hardly contain my excitement about Season 37 of The Amazing Race! Our veteran host, Phil Keoghan, has hinted at a reset for this season, and it seems that fourteen teams are gearing up for an extraordinary race around the world. With the tagline “Season of Surprises,” I’m expecting this to be far from the typical race we’re used to! The super-sized cast is just the beginning; there’s no telling what other twists and turns await us fans on this thrilling adventure!

Generally speaking, the majority of TAR seasons have featured between ten and eleven teams in total. Seasons 35 and 36 held the record for most pairs with thirteen each. Here’s hoping that the delay for Season 37 will be justified when it premieres on Wednesday, March 5 at 9:30 p.m. ET on CBS. This time, viewers can anticipate 90-minute episodes, but with a larger number of competitors than normal crammed into those minutes! (If you miss the live broadcast, you can stream it the next day with a Paramount+ subscription.)

I had the chance to chat with two teams participating in Season 37, and although I don’t have every detail as an Amazing Race statistician might, I can’t help but ponder if their benefits could be more significant due to the increased competition this season.

Han And Holden Nguyen’s Advantages

At SCAD TVfest in Atlanta, Phil Keoghan and participants of The Amazing Race’s latest season were present to address the press. Among those interviewed was the Nguyen siblings, with Holden, a 22-year-old Stanford student, providing insight on their advantage in the intense competition when asked: “What sets them apart?

It’s quite apparent that we are brother and sister on the program. Just as a close friend could be a sibling, so too can an adversary. This creates a complex dynamic, much like a double-edged sword. We made every effort to navigate this situation effectively.

Having two brothers myself, I found it effortless to empathize with Holden’s perspective on siblings being both friends and foes. Han, a 26-year-old ex-energy consultant, shared her own viewpoint as well:

Apart from our strong determination, it’s important to note that we aim to challenge traditional Asian stereotypes on the show. Instead of fitting into those preconceived categories, we are resourceful and resilient individuals, often referred to as “scrappy.” This means you’ll see us being innovative problem solvers, not afraid to stand our ground, and admitting when we make mistakes. We’re not flawless; we’re real.

In a competition featuring fourteen teams and twenty-eight competitors, the Nguyen siblings will have to rely heavily on their resourcefulness and innovative thinking to outshine the rest. They aim to shatter preconceived notions, and hopefully they’ll succeed. Interestingly, the pair didn’t realize they were joining a season with the biggest cast until they stepped onto the mat and were taken aback. But they won’t be the only sibling duo appearing on CBS on March 5th.

Nick And Mike Fiorito

Two enterprising brothers who also host a podcast will join the stage, and their perspectives aren’t dissimilar to those of the Nguyen siblings. On the SCAD TVfest red carpet, Nick, aged 32, expressed his thoughts:

As a cinema connoisseur, I share a special bond with my brother – both in business, friendship, and siblinghood. This triadic relationship is truly a rare gem, forged over a lifetime spent side by side. It’s almost as if we have an unspoken connection, intuiting each other’s thoughts effortlessly, which I believe is a remarkable skill.

Moreover, as brothers, we’ve mastered the art of conflict resolution. One moment we may argue fiercely or let loose with choice words, but just minutes later, we can put our differences aside and unite once more to conquer our shared goals. This ability to swiftly move past disagreements has been a significant advantage for us in our journey together.

Mike, aged 28, concurred with his brother initially, but later mentioned that they had believed their team would be the physically strongest on “The Amazing Race”. However, after witnessing the lumberjack duo Jeff “Pops” Bailey and his son Jeff Bailey, Mike couldn’t help but laugh as he admitted that the Baileys had left them feeling rather less confident. Nevertheless, Mike also noted that fitness was one of their strong points too. Nick added:

Despite frequently having differing views, our long-term business partnership has taught us the delicate skill of constructive disagreement. This, in essence, is an art form. We’ve learned to set aside our personal egos, avoid assigning blame, and refrain from finger-pointing. While we don’t always manage perfectly, our shared history and experiences have enabled us to quickly recover and get back on the same page.

Will it be one of these pairs of siblings who can leverage their advantages to outperform the other twelve teams in contention for Season 37? Only time will tell as fans eagerly await the show. Competing alongside them are teams consisting of sisters, spouses, parents and children, friends, and more. The competition takes them to various destinations such as Osaka, Japan, Strasbourg, France, and the Bulgarian countryside, among others.

Don’t forget to catch CBS on Wednesday, March 5 at 9:30 p.m. Eastern Time, as they kick off Season 37 of The Amazing Race. This premiere will be joined by Survivor Season 48 in prime time, making CBS a major player in the competitive Wednesday night lineup on television. In this battle, The Amazing Race and Survivor will go head-to-head with Shifting Gears and Abbott Elementary, ABC’s top comedy shows, as well as NBC’s long-standing One Chicago block.
