She will portray Marion Alba, a freshly-arrived Assistant District Attorney. Currently, there’s no clear indication that Marion Alba will enter the show as a potential new love interest for any character. However, given how Season 2 concluded with Will having to arrest Angie after discovering she could have stopped a series of murders, it’s natural to speculate about future romantic developments.
After apparently abandoning the GBI and his previous life, it was clear how grave the situation was given that he even left Betty behind. The TV series “Will Trent” wouldn’t continue without Will Trent once renewed for a third season, but it’s yet to be determined how they re-introduce him back to work. If there’s a significant time leap where he’s somewhat accepting of Angie’s outcome, then I can imagine some romantic tension between Ramón Rodriguez’s and Gina Rodriguez’s characters.
I hope those sparks won’t resemble the ones between Ramón Rodriguez’s character Will and Susan Kelechi’s character Agent Cricket Dawson, as seen in Season 2. With Clark Gregg set to appear as a guest star, Watson’s casting was revealed before the season started, leading me to speculate that perhaps we might see Agent Cricket recurring.
Instead, Cricket met an explosive end during the Season 2 premiere, which came as quite a surprise and suggested that her flirtation with Will wouldn’t lead anywhere. It seems a pity that Will’s romantic journey is focused on Will and Angie when he could have had a more peaceful relationship without the tragic history tied to such a talented actress, doesn’t it?
It appears that Will’s romantic storyline won’t continue in Season 2, but I’m optimistic he might explore a new romance when the third season begins. Since Gina Rodriguez is listed as a regular series character, it seems unlikely she’ll be written off before the premiere ends, like Susan Kelechi Watson’s character was. Here’s hoping for the best!
